(Some) animals and creatures are frozen

I was recently playing around with a few mods over the previous few days, however after installing one (which turned out to be fairly poor) I found that many of the animals and creatures in the game were frozen. Most creatures and animals seemed to be affected, with the exception of small game creatures along with spiders, thought that is all I have encountered so far. To give an example, wolves and sabre cats appear frozen in an unnatural pose and do not react when attack, though they properly ragdoll upon death.

The steps I have taken to try and fix this (which have not worked)

Removed every mod and re-installed the game.

Re-installed the latest version of FNIS and the creature pack associated with it and updated FNIS behavior. (No FNIS errors reported)

Installed several mods which affected animal and creatures and updated FNIS behavior. (No FNIS errors reported)

Would it just be easier for me to completely remove the game from my computer, including local files (using steam)? In the case that it is, where exactly would the save files be stored so I could preserve them? I swear I must be going blind for I can't find them.

As for the whole animal issue, try starting a new game before uninstalling. Could be a massive waste of data and time reinstalling all your mods if this issue is one that's baked into the current save file.

The save I was loading had been last saved without mods. I started a new game just to play around with mods a bit and see if there were any which I would like to have on my more advanced play through. I did start a new game, as you suggested, but just like the horses were frozen and unmoving, just like the other situations. That seems to suggest, at least, that it is a game-wide issue, not relating to a save file.

Start the FNIS generator and press the "De-Install Creatures" button. See if it'S fixed.

If not, run the Steam VerifyCache.

If this doesn't help, then look, for example, look for a meshes/actors/sabrecat folder. Rename this.

If this helps please report back. I would be interested what is in this folder what causes your problems (if it's not FNIS creatures).

I went the path of re-installing the game, mostly because I am lucky enough to have fibre-optic, so I didn't get the chance to try out those solutions. The re-install however, did work, though any saves made when the game was modded (I tested them) all suffered from the frozen creature syndrome. In this case, I suspect, it was something lingering from one of the mods. If I had to guess further, it probably does have to deal with either the animations or meshes installed in one of the mods not properly uninstalling or overwriting something that was not reverted to it's previous form or code at the time of its uninstall.

I had this exact same problem too, affecting all horses, wolves and foxes. Found this thread and went to de-install creatures using FNIS generator but also found that my vutton was greyed out. So I tried reintsalling FNIS creature pack whch still didn't fix the problem, but while I was running FNIS generator again I spotted that the De-intsall creatures button was now available so I used it and it fixed the problem.

TL:DR if De-intsall creatures is greyed out for you, then you have probably unintalled the creature pack via a different method, re-install it and the button should become available, then press it and hope for the best!
