Making a book

So I know how to make a basic book with the construction set and get it to appear in the game . I loaded up the Skingrad mages guild interior in the cell view window and from the objects window, I dragged my book into the cell view window, into the mages guild interior. Some questions though. I placed the book in the Skingrad's mages guild on a table in the construction set., but when I went into the game, the mage's guild was messed up with lots of furniture and other decor missing and the book was not on the table but on the floor. The interior was not right, something messed up. I obviously made some noob mistake as this is the first time I used the construction set.

It sounds like you accidentally moved something like the placement of the actual room, when you placed the book. Easy to do if you're not very careful.

If you have a backup of your plugin the best thing is to do it over because changes like that are extremely hard to fix. You often end up worse off than before. If the only thing you've done in your mod is place the book it may be better to start over.

Or, you could try loading the CS, go to File/Data then in the list find your mod and highlight it. Select Details and look for changes to the Skingrad Mages Guild that should not be there. Highlight the change and press the delete key. You'll get a message to say "You have chosen to toggle ignore one or more records..." Choose OK as long as you know what the problem record is. This will make the game ignore the unwanted changes. Then load the mod and save it.

You can also do this with TES4Gecko or TES4Edit. Look for those programs using the search function at Tesnexus.

There are lots of tutorials available for the CS.

Check this site out:

The problem is, they are very long and wordy. They are for the ultra-patient. They can teach you everything under the sun, except for the one thing you want to know right now for the mod you are working on.

I was actually going to say in my previous post that uesp wiki sucks donkey **** for beginner tutorials. Alas that's all there is, just wiki and no other forums for oblivion modding like filefront, although there is a forum for oblivion on file front, there is no good topics on modding from the beginning. Not like hl2 or stalker with nearly every little detail explained how to change in forums. If you want to know how to change the rate of fire in stalker, search in google and you get a good few sites but searching for oblivion modding tutorials, nearly all the results are for wiki.
