which patch ?

having run mods on oblivion b4 i decided to try fallout3 but tbh im bit confused as to what i should have installed 1st b4 adding mods

my computer runs vista

i have seen talk on using old patch plus fakepatch do i need to do this or does the latest patch run ok ?

what else will i need to install ? unoffical patch ? i have no plans atm to get the DLC

do i need bsa manager/fomm/fose

 

also what r the must have mods i should get ? basicly i thinking mainly on replacers new armor/weapons/player homes

any advice plz

As far as I know the fakepatch were made for patch 1.5, which you won't need if you install patch 1.6 or 1.7, though I have heard some

FOSE user having problems when using 1.7, and some seem to not have a

problem, so I'm unsure if I should recomend 1.7...

 

FOMM could be a good thing to use, also, running 1.6+ you don't seem to have need of the

.bsa manager, I haven't used .bsa manager and so far TP, BS and OA works fine

(apart from a minor armor bug in TP but I asume that's mostly cause I use TYPE3.)

 

I donno what a must have mod would be, I've just downloaded those that fell in my taste.

what bout the unoffical patch is that needed with 1.7 ?

whats the bes body replacer ? i know its down to taste but alot clothes armor can clip etc if done for diff body so whats most commonly used might be better way of asking

Don't think the unoffical patch is needed either at 1.6>1.7, I'm running fine.

 

I believe that TYPE 3 might be the most use one, and if you get TYPE 3

I can also recommend the 'Dimonized female races and texrures Beta'

and some of the other Dim mods.

When it comes to weapons/ammo I can sugguest CALIBR and

there's quite a few weapon mods around for it also.

I wouldn't have a clue if disabling it would do anything, I haven't met this issue myself.

But I'm sure you can find an answer on it in the Fallout 3 Technical Support.

Think I've seen some threads about the matter before.

ok the thing about fose and 1.7 is this 1.7 DOES NOT work with fose however someone made a few adjustments to fose that allow it to work with 1.7 and as ive been using it since last night with no problems i would say it works fine ill give you a link to it in a moment

 

 

mod suggestions

 

i strongly suggest enclave commander its by far one of the best mods on here

if you dont like this then its fine but i adore this custom class mavroshs facticus humanus

side note i my self almost did not get breezes body replacer due to not wanting the armor on NPCs or the NPCs to be nude since kids play BUT

 

i dont know if it will make a difference for you but if you load it through FOMM you can choose what if any of the armors you get and if you have underwear or are naked so i was able to get it when i learned that

i use 1.6 w/ Fose.

 

 

i dont get any more CTDs than i normally would. Fallout3 is just a buggy ass game. Crashes often, but not so much these days as the old days
