Making Your Own Oblivion Gates

I haven't been able to find any documentation on this less-popular field of modding. I think I have everything worked out except the part where you grab the sigil stone and the gate closes. There are many seemingly interconnected object scripts attached to many interlinked activators. There are also similar scripts for similar situations such as the 7 random gates, Kvatch, Bruma I and Bruma II. I have even wondered if some of the scripts are dead code which are not ever used in the game.

 

Sure, I can make the gate close and bring the player character back to Cyrodiil, but I can't figure out the timer and all the cool animations that occur right at the end.

 

Does anyone know of any tutorials, documentation, or good advice to give me?
