Mekii
This problem have sorta been hunting me since day one.At day one, that is for about 2 months ago, I didn't haveany kind of mods or DCL's, I've just been modding the game for about2½ week now, so I wouldn't start blaming the mods/DCL's. Anyhow, to the issue that you might have figured already involves a crash.Any area that got a radio or Eyebots that is tuned into the Enclave Radio will make me crash if I don't manage to turn off the radio or kill the eyebot asap. Why do I think it's the enclave radio doing this and not the area itself?Of course I've done my tests in the matter, and I'll list some of them: 1. Areas with an radio that is playing the Enclave radiodoesn't ever crash as long the radio is turned off or Eyebot is dead. 2. Same areas as no.1 involves, always crashes after a little, little whileif the radio or eyebot is on or left alive. 3. Megaton have never crashed for me, ever, so listening on the Enclave radio in my PB for a bit while being in Megaton and BANG, game crash. 4. Some bug I had would remove both the Enclave and GNR radios. Areas holding an radio playing the enclave or an Eyebot wouldn't crash anymore.(For I while there I were in heaven.) The funny thing is, it's always after the same speech and just before one of thesongs is about to start that this issue takes affect. I can't give an exact descriptionof the speech or song since I've been avoiding the Enclave Radio as much as possible, butI'm pretty sure the song starts with an flute, makes me thing on the American Civil War, or what it was called (war history isn't my strong side). But, if I am lucky and enter an area just after I'm safe until after the speechand the song is about to start again. So, after several re-installs, tests with different patches and without patches. Also with and without any kind of mod/DCL, the issue remains.(I forgot to mention that each test is carried out with a New Game) So, my question would be, why does the Enclave Radio hate me so muchand how can I make it like me a lil bit better? :pinch: Ps. with 'without any mods' I mean that I completely empty the Datafolder from mods so just orginal Fallout.bsa/.esm and such were left. Not just turning it off in FOMM. VerbalEarthworm
it sounds like you installed a mod that altered the Enclave Radio in some way (extra music etc) and at some point, it became corrupted in your savegame. all your ensuing saves will carry that corruption. try a starting a New Game (without Mods) and see if you still get it. Mekii
Your idea have been tested, once again. No, it isn't the first time I do a test like that, the result were sadly as expected. A crash once again. :( But still I do find it very unlikely that a mod can cause a problem that started before I even had any mods/dcl, as I mentioned.Maybe the issue isn't caused by FO3 itself or any mods...but then what would it be... Oh well, if you get another idea, please shoot, I'm running dry myself.
VerbalEarthworm
as you didn't mention that you had tried that idea, i ventured it. all i can think of is: patch to 1.7 and try again. if it was happening before you installed your first mod, perhaps it has something to do with a patch: which version were you using when the bug began? have you tried re-installing FO3? at the very least, try re-installing the vanilla sound bsa and music folder. is your soundcard okay? do you have the latest drivers etc.
Mekii
Ah, yes, forgot to mentioned that I do my tests with a new game, I should add that. It began with version uh... well, it started the first time I ran the game for the first time and listened to the Enclave radio just outside the vault.I've done same tests as you mentioned earlier after each re-install, also after patch 1.6 and for a few minutes ago even patch 1.7 ( figured I hadn't tested with that patch yet). Yes, too many re-installs than I can remember and my soundcard should be okay as far as I know, I updated it yesterday. Maybe my vanilla sound .bsa on the CD have gotten corrupted in somehow... If that would be the case I'll need to buy a new "Lunch box". VerbalEarthworm
i don't know what else to advise, you seem to have covered almost everything. have you tried posting about this on the Bethesda forum? some people there never use mods, so become expert at vanilla bugs (such as this might be). Mekii
Hmm, yeah, could give that a try, haven't thought of their forum before.
Mekii
Issue Solved It apperes as that the problem is lying on the CD itself in this case.
