Keeping multiple horses in player owned stable?

So I have 2 horses, the black horse and shadowmere. I leave the black horse at the stable in battlehorn castle and run all the way east to the fort where shadowmere is. Then I fast travel back to battlehorn where the black horse is no longer at the stable. The last horse you get on is the horse that fast travels everywhere with you right? I know you can store your horses at the stables where you buy them but what happened there? Can you not store lots of horses at your castle stables?

Did the black horse originally spawn at that stable or did you buy it from Cheydinhal or something?

It should go back to it's original spawn, You can use the CS and populate your stable easy enough if you want lots of horses there.

My current mount is a unicorn that is based at Anvil stables.

I bought the black horse from the black waterside stable outside cheydinhal and then ran over to the fort to get shadowmere. It's a thing about asthetics, you know, realism, like having a couple of horses at one stable. If you leave a horse at the stable where you bought it and buy another horse at another stable, the unused horse stays at the stable where you bought it. For example If I buy a horse at black waterside stable and leave it there, then I not fast travel but actually walk/run all the way to another stable and buy a new horse, the new horse goes everywhere while the first horse stays at black waterside stable. My problem is my blackwater side stable horse did not stay at battlehorn castle when I ran all the way to the fort where shadowmere is and then I fast travelled back to battlehorn. And I don't see the horse at blackwater side stable where I bought him originally. I'm not experienced with the cs so I don't want to mess anything up.

As soon as you mount Shadowmere the horse from Cheydinhal will try to return to Cheydinhal.

It can take a couple of days sometimes for them to get there, or they may run into something hostile along the way and get killed.

If it doesn't show up after a few days game time assume it's been killed, or test by trying to buy another horse from that stable, don't think they let you buy another if you have one from them alive.

The CS is pretty easy to use if you follow the tutorials, I'm a self taught computer user so I don't know too much but by reading the tutorials I was able to get the basics.

It's worth learning, lots of things you can experiment with. My Shadowmere can walk on water for example.
