melonmatt
Every single time that I try to access Oblivion and start a new game, I make it about 10 feet before crashing to my desktop. I'm wondering if this is a mod compatibility issue? I'll list all the mods I'm currently using (without any mod manager). ArmamentariumDeadly Reflex 5Most of the M.O.E. Plug-InsMMMMidas Spells of AurumStreamlineUnofficial Oblivion PatchHG EyeCandy Body (Underwear)Beaming SunglareLowPoly RocksQuarls' Texture Pack 3 Redimized I'm running on a fairly new computer with a good amount of ram and graphics, so I don't think that's the issue... on Vista. Any help? :wallbash: EDIT: I've also noticed that my game crashes with all plug-ins disabled, almost right at the point in the tutorial where the Mythic Dawn appear. David Brasher
The dirty and ugly approach: Remove one of your mods. See if you can play the game for a half hour with no crashing. Remove another of your mods. Play-test for a half hour. Keep removing mods one at a time and play-testing until game does not crash. Install all the mods you removed except for the bad one. Play-test again. If you have no crashes, you are good to go. Delete the bad mod. (I guess if you are in love with the bad mod, you could mess with load order or settings, modify the mod, contact the author, read everything on the forums and in the readme files, or do a bunch of play-testing removing and adding all of your mods except that one until you find a combination that works. But it would probably give you more happiness to just delete all your copies of the bad mod and get on with your life.) I just noticed your edit. Disregard the above advice. Your game is broken at a very basic level. If it crashes with no mods at all, you have a big problem. I have Vista too and it stinks, but I never had any problems until I started wanting to use console commands, play mods, and make mods. You might investigate to see if Vista is causing your problem, although my computer did not have the same problem. I suppose you have already tried uninstalling and reinstalling Oblivion itself? NomDeKeyz
I had too much trouble with Vista in general, so I went back to XP. So if Vista is your issue, I can't help ya.I have however noticed that many people have had Vista/Oblivion issues/posts on this forum; I bet that a searchfor Vista would yield a handful of advice. Also, did you notice the thumb-nailed thread about preventing crashes?(Its just above where new thread posts appear on the mod troubleshooting page) I did have a similar issue once...It turned out that I simply needed to fully patch my game. Unofficial patches aside, have you tried the Official ones?Sorry I couldn't be more help, I am fairly noobish... but since I could relate, I thought I'd relay what worked for me.I am not using any of the mods on your list, I did try one of them once, without issue tho. I run very few mods atm.Best wishes ~NomDeKeyz
melonmatt
Ironically, it was the Unofficial Oblivion Patch that was killing my game. Thanks for the help.
