Using FO3EDIT

Omenpl

Recommended Posts

Hello.

I got a few problems with my fallout3 mod configuration, i figured out from the previous thread that i should try to resolve them with FO3edit utility, i need some help with the program.

Here are the current problems:

1. DLCs doesn't work properly, not getting any radio signal and zeta doesn't work at all (i don't get abducted)

2. A lot of random CTDs occuring randomly

3. Seducing women doesn't work. (i try to seduce a women, she takes off her clothes, the screen goes black, i can hear her moaning then 5-6 secs after i get CTD)

I attached 2 screenshots of my FO3edit including load order list from FOMM.

I need more specific advices how to use the program, and how to solve the conflicts, any inputs will be highly appreciated.

Here are the screenshots:

Any suggestions, inputs, advices will be highly appreciated, thank you in advanced. I'm really looking forward to start playing again.

Dude?

Geez, don't post screenshots, why bother uploading

when you can copy an paste text

Like FOMM for example you right click the load order then copy load order

then paste that here. (which will be a good starting point for us)

The FO3edit stuff you can either copy or just type in which errors you wanted to fix.

Short of getting rid of big red ! errors in game I don't think that's really how we use FO3edit

Idk maybe if you were OCD an pretty anal about order and cleanness.

Look, i uploaded the FO3edit screenshot simply because i was told to fix problems with it in my previous thread. The load order from FOMM is exactly same as the screenshots show. I use patch 1.7 UK

I didn't mean to be rude or anything, I'm sure you're in a nightmare

Yeah, well yer screenshot also has Fallout.exe in it.

Who knows what else, I wanted to be sure what it was

as a starting point.

I'd start with Fellout.

Check to see if you should even have Fellout-full.esp and Fellout-SOTD

It might be that you only use one or the other, then again it might be a

hack, where SOTD changes settings in the felloutFull.

Either way, you should load it

Fellout-Full.esp

Fellout-SOTD.esp

Fellout-BrokenSteel.esp

Fellout-PointLookout.esp

Fellout-Anchorage.esp

compatbility patches after the main .esp to which they patch

Some of them have different rules though.

Also the pipboy light in fellout has been known to cause problems

so you should double check that the read me says it's safe an

where to put it. Something else you don't even really need the

pipboy light if you are using SOTD fellout. Yet another reason to drop it.

Next MMM

Where is you increased or increasedincreased spawns.esp

I'm not sure that is optional, also where is you zones respawn?

Move the DLC compatibility patches after the main .esp

then the optional .esp afterwards.

Mart's Mutant Mod.esp

Mart's Mutant Mod - DLC Anchorage.esp

Mart's Mutant Mod - DLC The Pitt.esp

Mart's Mutant Mod - DLC Broken Steel.esp

Mart's Mutant Mod - DLC Point Lookout.esp

Mart's Mutant Mod - Feral Ghoul Rampage.esp

Mart's Mutant Mod - Hunting & Looting.esp

Mart's Mutant Mod - Tougher Traders.esp

Mart's Mutant Mod - Natural Selection.esp

Then move your entire weather section

Weather is right before MMM because we know

MMM doesn't mess with any of the stuff in that

the weather stuff does.

Fellout-Full.esp

Fellout-SOTD.esp

Fellout-BrokenSteel.esp

Fellout-PointLookout.esp

Fellout-Anchorage.esp

Enhanced Weather - Rain and Snow in Fallout.esp

Enhanced Weather - Weather Sounds in Interiors.esp

Enhanced Weather - Sneak Bonus during Storms.esp

Mart's Mutant Mod - Hunting & Looting.esp

Let's talk CRAFT, I don't see any craft mods there.

Are there things you can make with craft in your load order

The ones I use always have the word craft built into the name.

At any rate any craft should come in order right after the

CRAFT - Activation Perk.esp

Wait yay I found them

CRAFT - Activation Perk.esp

Stealthboy Recon Armor - CRAFT.esp

Dogmeat Leather Armor - CRAFT.esp

You should group things together, like all the perks, all the weapons, all the buildings

the same stuff with the same stuff.

You should look into if your Dem type 3 body conflicts with some of your mods in particular

Also look into if any of these conflict with the others.

SeducingWomen.esm

Project Beauty.esp

SeducedDLC03.esp

SeducingWomen_-_override.esp

JessiCompanion.esp

Add your own hairstyle to Fallout 3 characters.esp

What is VDSP-01.esp I couldn't find it

but it's good that the talor maid stuff should work well with your build.

You should concider using the unofficial fallout 3 patch

great stuff, fixes a lot of small things, that add up to a

very large fix.

It seems rather obvious that SeducingWomen will conflict with Project Beauty

There is the SeducingWomen_-_override.esp in your favor though

which it says to use if you run into problems.

It doesn't really go into detail about where to put it

it could be either you use one or the other or both

I think though maybe it's

SeducingWomen_-_override.esp

SeducingWomen.esp

SeducedDLC03.esp

You could always ask the creator

I would update my drivers, defrag the drives, and maybe follow the old tweek guide

http://www.tweakguides.com/Fallout3_1.html

*not yelling* YOU DO KNOW THAT YOU SHOULD NEVER AUTO SAVE OR QUICK SAVE

Always hit Esc then save then create new save, and keep about 20 or so of them

the reason being is that nowdays you can get a corupted save that is crashing

and not crash for up to a hour or more, which makes a corupted save tree.

After that, even though all the naysayers yell we don't need to use FO3edit's master update utility anymore post 1.6 patches

1.6 an 1.7 only have DLC quest stuff in them. Ha Ha it's hilarious...

Seriously 1.6 an 1.7 are pretty much 1.5 with "more stuff"

They don't mention bugs or fixes for anything.

This last install I'm still working on this week I was going to use 1.7

ran into a sound bug an rolled back to 1.5 an it wasn't even 1.7 causing it

Anyway what I'm getting at is that Master update works great

and also allows some mods that normally would conflict to actually work together

Which picks up the slack we have in load orders a bit as well

What you do is find the FO3edit.exe, right click it and create a short cut

right click the short cut, click properties, see the target line

You want to add -masterupdate, but there is a space after the " "

so it looks something like "C:/bethesdasoftpoop\fallout3\FO3edit.exe" -masterupdate

From now on this is your master update shortcut, which you should put in a folder

named master update, on the desktop, inside the master update folder

you also put a folder named master restore, inside that master restore folder

you go back to the FO3edit.exe and create another short cut, which you place

in the master restore folder, right click the short cut, click properties,

Add -masterrestore to the target line.

You put them in folders so you don't mix them up with your FO3edit

it's a different program, and you don't wana click one when you wanted the other.

So after you got a almost 100% correct load order, double click the master update

shortcut, it will run an display tons of text, any errors will be displayed as well

and the program will halt at a error.

If you get an error, there are a couple of choices,

1. ask the mod that caused the error to fix it

2. Open the mod that caused the error with GECK an set it to active

Then hope the GECK prompts to auto fix it.

Run master update again, if it still causes a error then delete the mod uninstall it

Run the master update again until it finishes without error

At which point clicking the X to close the window finalizes the process

From there you have to run master update again each time you change the load order

or add in new mods. Also look into FO3edit's read me.

To remove the master update all you do is run the masterrestore shortcut you made

So you see there is no risk

Man, thank you very much for the reply and effort you put into helping me out, i'm glad somebody cares and tries to help for real.

I'm going to do as you instructed, will post about the outcome afterwards.

Ok, so that's what i've done so far.

1. Changed the load order accordingly to how you instructed

2. Checked MMM's readme again, increased spawn.esp indeed seems essential, added it, zones respawn is optional though.

3. Deleted Fellout-SOTD (have to choose either full or sotd, my mistake here) and pipboylight.

4. Deleted JessiCompanion mod, she ain't an interesting companion really, and her hair texture seems not to be working properly (she should be blonde, instead she has pink hair, the texture looks ugly, looks like incompability stuff, bug or i copied some meshes/textures to wrong folders, i dont really know)

5. Performed master update 'scan', here is the outcome:

[00:08] --= All Done =--

[00:08] Non of your active modules required changes.

[00:08]

[00:08] !!! Remember to run this program again any time you make changes to your active mods. !!!.

Right after i tested if i get kidnapped by the freaking aliens this time - no success.. (i'd like to remind that i've never got any radio signal that'd start a DLC quest, i waited in front of v101 entrance for 10 minutes aswell after i've done all these above corrections, still no signal)

Gonna run the game a bit longer to see how many CTDs i get now, as well as try to seduce some women and see if the game decides to crash during sex scene :P

Besides, FOSE doesn't work with polish version as it is stated on their page, so i don't use it... could you tell me a bit more about the program? i've heard some people calling it essential.

And please, answer me - when you open your fallout3.exe properties does it say 1.7 1.6 or 1.5? Mine says 1.0.0.12 at file version field, it still bothers me if it's ok.

Edit: Oh, i've already tried to contact seducingwomen mod creator looooong time ago, but his inbox is full :P

Edit 2: 2 CTDs so far, also 1 weird freeze at main menu even before i loaded any save. i just went for a cig, went back after 3-4 mins and couldn't move cursor in main menu. Seducing women still crashes at sex scene..

Edit3: Can i install the unofficial patch now, after i installed the 1.7? Or need to reinstall the entire fallout3?
