GECK: Error on startup

Hey guys. I'm getting an error on starting up the GECK which reads "MODELS: Unable to load CTL file. Context: DEFAULT" I hit "Yes" and I get another error "DEFAULT: Cannot load the stars. Context: DEFAULT". Anyone know what this means? Also, whenever I try to view a cell from Fallout3.esm, for example AnchorageWM01, the GECK crashes. Anyone have any ideas?

ums one guy said check the install location of the GECK

it should be in bethesda softworks\fallout 3

Also if the first time you run it you maximize it an change the size an where the windows are

it will load up that way every time after that, and it should also create options files

in mydocuments\games\fallout3

Well man it depends.

do you mean you get the error when you start the geck

or after you load up esm an esp files into geck an click on a item or just after the load finishes

Did you download the GECK an download the update for it too, then install an run the update?

I know I've always gotten wierd errors, I try to read most of them.

If it's something I know how to fix I'll fix it, if it's not though, I just hit yes an ignore it

or yes to all, just hitting yes you can check each one

GECK will auto fix somethings which it will auto prompt to do so if there is a major problem

GECK can't draw stars, ZOMG what will we do

Does the game draw stars that is all we really care about

yeah somethings won't load into geck but will load into the world ingame

so it's best to check there first for problems, also if it crashes in geck then yeah it's going to crash ingame for sure

but nothing is ever certian in the GECK, as they say...

I have this same exact problem. It happens on starting up GECK, before you even get the chance to load any masters or plugins. I don't get it because it just suddenly started happening. GECK worked fine before. I did download and install a different copy of GECK and it's 1.5 update, but that did not fix the problem.

Also, I have all the Fallout3 files and GECK installed in the correct locations (GECK is not in the Data folder).

I'm not sure if I understand you, but if you are clicking on a mod to open the Geck, that it wrong. You need to make an icon to start the Geck or click on the Geck.exe file to start the Geck and them choose your mod.
