Final Fantasy 4 style Dark Knight Equipment

Boots and gauntlets are now scaled properly. Discovered that the problem with the pauldrons was apparently caused by a glitch when I exported the nif from Blender. Re-exporting it made the issue disappear. So the armor is now completely scaled and functioning properly on all different sized male characters.

Don't really have anything new to show visually at the moment, but I'm working on the female version now, and will do as much as I can before bed.

(Why am I suddenly tempted to create a Dark Knight brigade in Solitude or something? LOL)

I would not in the least be surprised if there's a mod out there already that would allow you do to just that, once you finish this one of course.

Oh yeah, almost forgot to ask, and can we get a gif or video or something to show the effects, and something for first person once you're done?

I also wonder what the beast version will look like since the helmet will look kind of odd if it has to conform to the beast face.

Sure thing! Here's a pic from the 1st person view. I've uploaded a short video to vimeo, but it's still "processing" so it'll be another half hour or so before it's viewable.

Changing the helmet for the beast versions will be a little tricky, but I'll come up with something good.

Saw it, nice work. However (always one more however with this eh?) I noticed that the flame doesn't run the length of the entire blade, the bottom near the hilt doesn't really have it, and that it curves a bit near the point so the point lacks it too. It's also not a very... substantial? I guess is the word? It's too see through.

Hey guys! Sorry I wasn't updating the past couple days. It's been a pretty hectic weekend here.

Just wanted to let you know that work is still continuing, as you can see below. Female version is nearly complete.

Let me know what you think of the changes I made to it for the women. I'm actually kinda digging the pure black bodysuit/undersuit look, rather than the shaded one I currently have the male set to. Your thoughts?

Yup, the shape isn't quite right yet. It's still using the original Bound Sword shape, which is based on the Daedric sword. Won't be difficult to change, just have to have time. As for the effect, I agree it isn't visible enough. I'm hoping that I can fix that just by tweaking the alpha settings. It'll get there eventually.

Oh, and before I head to bed, I'll throw in a plug for one of my other mods that's just about done, if there's any interest:

No problem. As anxious as I am to see this mod made, I do realize that you have a life beyond being my mod creator.

Well, I'm not sure about the female look. I like the black undersuit look, it fits the rest of the armor's color scheme better but the breast section... I don't know about that. It's missing those plates that the male version has, I was expecting it to be more like the male version but with the chest plates pushed out a little, something that doesn't make the breasts stand out out too much. Can't wait to see what the helmet and gauntlets will look like though.

As for that other mod... I have no idea what that's supposed to be.

EDIT: Oh yeah, almost forgot. I didn't see anything covering the neck area.

Yea, the neck is part of the helmet/head mesh, so if the helmet isn't being worn then the neck is uncovered.

As for the chestplate, I had actually started out doing exactly what you mentioned. I moved the male plates out, and reshaped them a little to be more round than square. It actually didn't look good... at all. It looked like she was trying to wear a couple dog dishes on her chest. So after mucking around with it for a while I ended up with the single-piece you see in this pic. I'll try to get some more screenshots tonight so you can get a better look at it. I think it actually fits with the rest of the armor pretty well, whereas the big square male plates tend to stand out against all those curves.

I suppose so, if you still have it I'd like to see that first draft though. I think the straps over the breast area are what look the most off, they aren't centered like the male ones are, and like with the male they just draw attention to that area. They basically scream "HEY!!! LOOK AT THIS CHICK'S BREASTS!!!"

I mean, with the other armors especially the Dwarven armor the design of the female versions don't really call attention to their "assets" so much.

Good work overall aside from that.

Well, comparatively speaking, I think the male version actually draws a lot more attention to the chest, simply because those bulky, square plates stand out and contrast sharply against the rounder curvy nature of the rest of the armor. This female version blends in with the rest, I think anyway. Unfortunately, I don't have the first draft because the parts got re-shaped, twisted, molded and eventually became what you see now.

The screenshot I'm attaching shows the converted gauntlets, and even though you can't see them, the boots are now done as well. I'll hold off on doing the re-sizing for female size 1 (maximum weight) until we nail down this breast issue. Aside from that, the modeling is darn close to finished at this point. Just the female/beast helmets remain! Getting anxious yet?

Good to hear. Before I start nitpicking again, is the female version using CBBE? It might be just that the breasts stand out so much because they're ridiculously big. If so, Maybe if I could see how the armor looks with the vanilla females my nitpick might disappear. Regardless, all I'm wanting is something that keeps the breasts from standing out so much.

Oh, and I didn't really notice it until just now, but could you lighten the hand parts a bit? They feel a little bit too dark when I look at them compared to the armor parts of the gauntlets.

Getting anxious yet?

Extremely!!! WHY DO YOU TORMENT ME?!?
