Firing mode switch problems

I'm trying to make a weapon in the GECK that can switch between firing grenades and normal bullets. I'm trying to do this with FOSE, so that I can switch weapons with a key press. I created the mode change message, two versions of the weapon (Grenade Launcher and Assault Rifle modes), and the script for the weapons so that when I press the 'V' key, a message pops up, and I choose which firing mode to use. The problem is, in game, when I press V, the message pops up, but when I press the buttin to change firing modes, the weapon does not change at all! I know I made the script so that when I press the button, the current weapon is removed and the other version is equipped, but it does not seems to be doing that.
