Well the US lauch went off on the 22nd, and the UK launch seems to be at the start of December, so will we get a chance to play actual games here in the UK before then?

Maybe the exhibition at the Covent Garden Film Studios in Mercer Street, London WC1, England will have them on Friday the 25th of November?

I have been told that there will be at least 12 demo pods there, with 21inch by 28inch hi def Samsung screens. And we are waiting to confirm whether there will be full games to play. That news asap.

There is also speculation of one 50inch screen, but that's a big maybe at the moment.

Apparently there is more info on: www.xbox.com

Do you want the good news, or the bad news first?

Well, there are a lot more consoles there than I had heard, and (the senior staff on site seem to be in disagreement on this) the games there may or may not be ready for retail games on the consoles.

The other news? Ummm - after 20 mins play, you don't just get kicked off the console, you get kicked out of the building into the freezing cold (everyone except staff) where you have to wait 10 minutes before you can queue up to go in again. even if there are fewer gamers than machines.

One member of staff that I talked with suggested that this was important because it enabled them to pump up the numbers so that they could justify the whole thing for budgeting purposes. Me I wondered if it was intended to make everyone involved feel totally insignificant and fundamentally unwanted.

Then I was incorrectly told that the Oxford Street shops had all received retail versions of games today. Lucky I did not post that nonsense before checking, eh?

My advice? Defintely give it a miss, because whatever happens this gambit is not designed for your enjoyment or comfort.

As it happens, I have other things to do with my life, but having posted this thread I felt obliged to give you the real deal - who knows, maybe they will read this and make a few obvious and essential changes.
