DreamCatcher4815162342
I'm new to using oblivion mods, which is why I'm seeking help here. I downloaded a few mods for oblivion and they said i need to put them in a specific order. So from there on i knew i needed to do something with the data files or use OBMM, so i went to OBMM and i tried to arrange the mods 1,2,3 ... and it seemed to have worked, so i closed it, went to the oblivion launcher, data files, and saw that they were not in the order i set them up in OBMM. Now, i dont know if thats how its suppose to be, or if i need to save the arrangements i made somehow, and FYI this is the first time im using the OBMM, ive downloaded several other mods by just copying and pasting the files needed: textures, meshes, the esp, ect. So this is new to me, to sum it up, im not quite understanding the OBMM, any help would be great.
DreamCatcher4815162342
To give you an example, im trying to get the Unique Landscape mods Ancient Yews, and Arrius Creek to connect, ive also downloaded the patch, now i just need to put it into order Yews, Creek, Patch. And another mod im having difficulty with is the Qarls Texture mod, it says i needed to use one of the archive invalidation methods which i tried doing, but couldnt, so help on that would be great as well. dezdimona
once you set the order in OBMM, thats how it will remain unless you change it or add another mod
DreamCatcher4815162342
once you set the order in OBMM, thats how it will remain unless you change it or add another modThats what i was hoping to hear, cause i didnt think i was doing anything wrong, and could you give me a quick run through of how using OMODS or using archive invalidation works cause i still dont understand that and i need to know how to do that for the texture mod and the better open cities mod.Or even a link describing it thoroughly could prove useful. malonn
Yeah, the load order in OBMM is right. The one in the Data Files of the launcher goes by alphabetical order. It doesn't show the actual order it is going to load when you fire up the game. Fort OBMM there is a help file that comes with it. Read that, it should give you a better grasp of the provided functions of OBMM.
DreamCatcher4815162342
Thanks for the replies, thats no longer an issue, but i figured i was knowledgeable enough to install Open Better Cities on my own, and well...i had a fatal failure :wallbash: . I tried to create my own OMOD like the readme said, but since i had no experience with it, something was bound to go wrong .http://i569.photobucket.com/albums/ss137/D...162342/Pic2.jpghttp://i569.photobucket.com/albums/ss137/D...162342/Pic1.jpgThe first link shows me looking at the imperial city (which isnt there unless you go up really close to it)Second link shows me exiting the sewer onlooking vilverin (no background hills)Â This is what i remember doing for "Open Better Cities":Opened up OBMM, created new OMOD, added all files starting with Open (which consist of the open city + defences) i then created the mod and activated it...then i created a new OMOD only holding the "Better Cities Resources",created it, and activated it.I started the game from my previous load, and the background was messed up, no hills...so i started a new game, and it was still the same. I Then deactivated both OMODs, loaded game, still messed up, i then deleted the OMODs, and it wa still messed up, i spent 2 days trying to find mods, making sure they're compatible...i was almost about to play i just needed 2 more mods, and this happened, i have no idea what to do now, PLEASE Help. malonn
Try deleting your Oblivion.ini and letting the game regenerate a new one.
dezdimona
to install a mod into OBMM without it being an OMOD, do this: first make sure the file is zipped then:ok,click create omod, add the mod name and author where indicated.then click add archive, the mod will then be broken down automatically. When its ready you'll see some writing in the big box under file pathThen click create omod, answer yes and omod will be created.you'll get a green square in your mod list, click on it and then click activate!all done! mod is now active
DreamCatcher4815162342
Alright well thanks malonn, but i didn't get to read and try out your idea in time, I just completely re-installed Oblivion, and now am trying this over again, and thanks dezdimona for the tutorial, ill try that when ill need to make an OMOD, but I don't really know when i need to use one, so far Ive just been extracting the files into a temporary folder, then grabbing the essentials, and copying them in my /Oblivion/Data place. Sometimes it goes off without a hitch, but other times I don't know if its a good thing to do, an example is UL Gorge, i tried copying all their essential files, but when i go to paste it into the DATA area, the normal "Merge mesh/texture" message appears, and then the part that messes me up, "copy and replace or move and replace" or something else, and I don't know if replacing it with the new one will mess anything up or if moving the files will cause the newer ones to load...so Ive been trying to avoid files like that, but problem is, I paste the .esp and meshes/textures into the Data folder, but when that other message pops up, i click cancel but the textures and meshes already merged, so i screwed myself over even more  . Any ideas on this conundrum?
malonn
You're gonna want to replace all the files from a mod you're installing with the new ones. Or else the mod won't show up properly in the game.
