How do you remove an item or spell from the hotkey menu?

Simple answer:

 

Pick up an item you don't want (in this example I'll use an iron dagger).

Go into inventory and favourite the dagger.

Close inventory - open favourites menu.

Highlight dagger and press 12345678 so that all hotkeys have been cleared except the last one which is attached to the dagger.

Get rid of the dagger by selling or dropping it.

 

Voila, hotkeys cleared.

 

(I have a similar issue clearing hotkeys and this has always worked for me)

After like 2 hours of searching, this was the best and easiest method.. skyui doesn't remove the hotkey if you press the same number again. And I'm not running anything but skyui.

Not sure if you're still looking into this, but for me removing X item/spell from the Favorites Menu and readding it cleared the Hotkey Slot.
