rkatt
"Instead of clicking 'Download with manager' click 'download manually' on the file you want to download." Why? What are the benefits? Edited February 25, 2014 by rkatt
bben46
NMM is a beta program. Many people do not like to use beta ( still being tested and still being developed) programs. Unfortunately, many people do not even understand what using a beta program entails ( It may be changed at any time, features may be removed as well as added, there WILL be bugs - and we really do want you to report on problems. Downloading and installing manually was the only way mods could be used for years. And that still works for every mod on the Nexus. :thumbsup:Not every mod is compatible with the way NMM works either - as many were made before NMM even existed - especially those for Morrowind, Oblivion, Dragon Age, Fallout3 and New Vegas. The original beta for NMM was put up for test not long after Skyrim was released and so MOST (but not all) Skyrim Mods will be compatible. Another option preferred by some is to download manually, and then use NMM to install the mod - this has the advantage that you have the actual zipped mod in a folder on your computer - so even if the mod is taken down and you delete it from your game - you will still have it in that folder. And you can also keep older versions on file.

So it sounds like if I'm modding only Skyrim, it should be relatively safe to use the "Download with manager" button as long as I'm not downloading ancient mods that were created before NMM exisisted. When downloading using the "Download with manager" button, it does place the archive in the NMM mod folder and the archives will remain there unless you manually delete them, correct? You just have to accept having a bunch of disabled mods (with red Xs) in the NMM list (ie: don't remove them, just deactivate them).
