I created this thread for the SFIV players here.

As the title says, which character/characters do you usually use? Are they your favorite character? Why do you use them - for their moveset, their power, or simply because you like them?

 

I myself usually use Gouken. He is interesting and fun to use, has plenty of power, and is defensively-oriented. He also does not rely very heavily on combos like Ken, or Akuma.

 

Speaking of Akuma, I do use him sometimes as well. He's a combo powerhouse, dishes out plenty of damage, has a very large moveset, but his glass jaw is his weakness. He's the kind of character that is very powerful, but difficult to use. With Akuma you can't afford to make mistakes, his health isn't forgiving. Switching to him as your main character will be difficult if you're used to tanks like Zangief or Sagat.

 

I also on occasion use Seth and Sagat. Sagat is currently the top character, but I find that he isn't as interesting to use as some of the other characters. Seth has the lowest health and stamina of any character in SFIV, and learning how to use him efficiently is very difficult, but if you do so he is very rewarding.

Ryu for the win! I don't know, he just looks badass and I like most of his combos. He's a well rounded fighter.

 

I sometimes use that green orc thing(can't remember it's name) just because I like his background story.

Blanka's background story is unbelievable. He turned green by living in the jungle too long.

I believe the process involved some form of osmosis between his body and the jungle flora, which would be adamantly impossible in real life. Still doesn't explain why his hair is orange, though.

I've currently switched my main character to Seth for the time being. He is a very good character, and I'm having great fun using him. Although the intake of hatemail people send me after I beat them with him has increased greatly. I get roughly 5-10 a day.
