i want to make an enchantment on a new amulet of kings for an end game reward. my idea was a spell usable while wearing the amulet that transforms you into akatosh.

1st problem: i for some reason dont have any game id's of that sort listed in the CS.

2nd problem: i suck at not crashing the CS (therefore i suck at keeping my work).

3rd problem: i don't have any scripting experience.

and if i find a fourth problem i should probably give up :(

if someone could give me the the info on scripting and if they know how to do the transformations then i'd be greatful. lastly i can't find the id of akatosh in the CS along with every other ingame id.

Start here.

I know you're going to argue this... But rather than go through a list that trashes your hopes further, I'll just leave it at this. What you want to do isn't really practical to do with the player. Even someone who knows what they were doing would likely be unable to produce the same effects on the player due to several game mechanics issues. There are other "transformation" type mods, but none of them really accomplish the sort of thing you are likely trying to reproduce.

I'd really prefer not to argue but, didn't xilver make some pretty good polymorphs?

Haven't really seen that one to be honest, but I'm assuming that the OP is trying to reproduce the same sort of cinematic stuff before the change. Regardless, it is still something far more complicated than what even a vast majority of modders could pull off. Sure, it could probably still be pulled off, but would likely require a handful of new/tweaked animations, resources, an assload of scripting, and would still suffer the same fundamental gameplay flaws as any other since there is no way to pause the action so that you can transform, and resume the action only once it's been completed. It still ends up being a question between what is practical, possible, and playable.

well, to be truely honest, your definately right about what it would take. i just have no idea what to start on. i also have this pproblem with the npc making portion of the CS where i hit apply on the face tab, and the entire CS closes. so im generally unlucky with the CS.

You won't find the ID of Akatosh in the CS. The sounds are in miscellaneous\sound.

If you only knew what problems I had with my Tiamat Firedrake mod and that particular model... :wallbash: The MMM team managed to fix some of them, but problems still exist. The main issue is with the hard coded sounds.

As vagran0 says it would be more work than it's worth trying to get that working, especially with the Akatosh model. It's hard coded into the game and is very hard to change some of the features. It's part of the End Game cinematics and the nifs are in meshes\creatures\endgame, but not separated so you can use them without an editing program.

Saiden Storm created his Akatosh Mount this way and I imagine that was a lot of very hard work.

Xilver does have some good polymorph's in the excellent Midas Magic. An eagle and a wolf and maybe more...haven't played the latest version yet. Luchaire's Dryad race has a feature where you can transform into a deer using Xilver's scripts and it works perfectly.
