Spikefan74
Ok this is my first mod i'm trying to download and am having some problems. My main oblivion folder is in C:/ Games / Bethesda Softworks/ Data. This is where I install right? 1) If I am installing the full version folder do I need to also unzip the onlyhairs? or is that included in the full? I also downloaded the custom race fix into the data folder. After loading There is no face and purple bodies. Did I do something wrong? 2) If I'm installing a mod for the first time do I create an extra Textures and Meshes folder? Do they get put in the data folder or do I put them somewhere else? I read not to mess with the 2nd data folder, is this the LSData folder or am I missing somthing? Do I need to download anything else? Sorry for the questions, but I'm a total beginner. Thanks :)

No, if you install the full version you don't need the hairs only. They are all included in the full mod.A good way to install mods manually, and everyone should know how to do it despite OBMM (Oblivion Mod Manager), is to unzip the mod archive to a temporary folder on your desktop for example. Just create a new folder called Temp Ren's or something like it. Unzip the contents of the mod into it. Ren's when unzipped has a Data folder. Others will have just meshes, textures and the esp and perhaps sounds or other folders if the mod requires them. Move the Ren's Data folder "complete" to your Oblivion directory, NOT the Oblivion Data directory, otherwise you end up with a data folder within the OB data folder. This sounds like what's happened so the game can't find the textures and meshes. With mods that only have meshes and texture folders you move them to your Oblivion\Data directory. This is how I pack my mods.By doing it the way I described you can look at the structure of the mod before installing it. I never just unzip straight to my Oblivion directory. Modders pack their mods in different ways so it's best to check first. When you have that part sorted you should download Oblivion Mod Manager and read it's Info files. It's an essential tool for use with mods, especially when you start adding more to your game. 2. When you install a mod for the first time with textures and meshes folders they will be created for you when you add the mod files to your Data Directory. Next time you install another mod you don't create new folders. You will be asked if you want to overwrite the folders you already have. Say yes to this. Nothing will be removed. The folders will just be updated with the new information from the new mod and the previous data will still be there. I don't know what 2nd data folder you mean. There is only one. This is the only one you need worry about. Don't touch the LSData folder.
malonn
Maigrets explained it pretty well, the only thing I have to add is that your Oblivion directory should be C:\Games\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\Data. You left out the Oblivion folder where your .exe is and stuff.
