Another processor question

Recommended Posts

What exactly is a quad core processor? The laptop I'm going to get has this as an option- Intel® Core™2 Quad Q9000 2.00GHz (6MB Cache, 1066MHz FSB) Isn't 2 ghz really weak? Or does it being quad core make it better, as in 8ghz? My only question is is it enough to run Oblivion and Fallout 3 with high settings easily- along with 2 Radeon 4870's (1 gig each) and 4 gigs of DDR3 ram.

A quad is a processor with 4 cores in one, each core will have 2ghz each, so all in all you would have 8ghz. Sorry if this sounds l like i'm bragging, unlike my quad i oc'ed it to 4ghz, so that'll make it 16ghz  in all.

No but it will run fine though, especially with your vid card, it shouldn't be a problem. I had a older athlon at 2ghz and it ran fine.

There are tweaks that will make the game load better in the ini file, just look up tweakguides oblivion, it can be usefull.

they say fallout 3 isn't quad supported, but i say otherwise. And it runs perfect in windows 7, atleast for me.

2 GHZ doesn't sound like enough. I thought it recommended 3 ghz. Alright, if I wanted to play both Oblivion and Fallout 3 on ultra high settings, along with other high performance specs, which one should I choose.

I would get this if you wanted to play oblivion, i think it should play it just nicely, sucks you can't get a quad at 3.4ghz.

Yes it would use them, and then some in most cases, all depends in game.

But for your laptop the 3.06ghz is the best option for you, since you are limited in processing decisions.

its the way to go for you.
