Retribution Posted August 18, 2009 Author Posted August 18, 2009 Thor. said: Yes it would use them, and then some in most cases, all depends in game. But for your laptop the 3.06ghz is the best option for you, since you are limited in processing decisions.Alright, thanks. The thing is, the computer I'm on now cost 600 dollars brand new, but it has a 3 ghz core 2 duo o_O I've heard that it can really bring your performance down if one aspect of your computer isn't as good as the others. Will that be the case with the 3.06 ghz processor? Oh, and another question. What does the "extreme" mean in the 3.06hz processor? It seems that this website says that the Intel® Core™2 Extreme X9100 3.06GHz is dual core. http://shopper.cnet.com/processors/intel-c...9-33311640.html
Thor. Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 The extreme is nothing really just intel trying to sell there crapy product in a form of EXTREME. i don't there processors all that much they suck at encoding, thats just me of course.
Retribution Posted August 18, 2009 Author Posted August 18, 2009 It says in the different categories: 64 bit processor: yes Does that mean I can't use Vista 32 bit with it?
Thor. Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 You can use the 32bit just fine, but the 64bit just gives you a boost in performance since its using the 64bit structure to its fullest.
Retribution Posted August 18, 2009 Author Posted August 18, 2009 I believe this will be my last question about processors. Is the Intel® Core™2 Extreme X9100 3.06GHz dual core? It says that it's dual core in its specifications here: http://shopper.cnet.com/processors/intel-c...9-33311640.html but it doesn't say dual core anywhere in the name. Is that perhaps a different model?
Thor. Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 It seems to be the same processor but i would get it from newegg.ca or .com, better deals there, and wow 900$, man i got my quad for 250$, overpriced big time. Thats intel for ya.
Retribution Posted August 18, 2009 Author Posted August 18, 2009 How did you get such a good processor for so low? The 2.53 quad costs over 1 thousand dollars, but you got a 3.4 quad and it was 250? o_O
Thor. Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 Actually mine is at 3.0ghz Also AMD is great for low prices, thats why they are so popular. Also there is another thing about amd, they are great for overclocking to, i can oc on the fly with my asus board and i managed to get it around 4ghz, thats double what the stocks speeds are   .
