Pistolwhip - Alternative Melee Attack

I usually hit my right mouse button when I once again have to reload while beeing surrounded and attacked by ghouls. I always assume I will kick them away or punch them with my rifle. I dont remember which game is responsible for this leftover behaviour that I cant get rid off. But maybe I wont have to, behold my majestic idea: The punch buggy ... ehrm button of course.

Maybe a kick would even make more sense, since you should be able to use it while reloading. Plus it would save us (and by that I dont mean myself) from having to do all these custom animations :whistling:

yeah, sounds like a good idea, but the right click is for aiming and scopes... and to just keep kicking everytime u push the reload button would be ridiculous... and to remap the keys would lose its point... so it's a pretty tough call

Yes, that wouldnt work, but any other key would be fine I guess. I dont mind bashing X instead of Right Mouse Button really

@ rebel28: I had some great fun playing that on our local network

+1

Imo, almost ALL projectile weapons should double as melee.

Using them as such should severely damage 'em of course ...

Binding it to keyboard doesn't seem practical.

It would mostly be used in situations when you'd rather not let go of WASD.

I'd suggest binding it to RMB (remapping scope/ironsight to MMB).

On the topic of animation, some pragmatism is in order.

The standard punch/swing (unarmed/melee) animations should suffice to start out with.

If it JustWorks and gains some popularity, I'm sure an animator would show up eventually.

Functionality > Aesthetics.

well I guess you'd have to strategize your kicks, just like every other weapon

you have a .32 revolver in your inventory but u don't use that against a behemoth, do ya?
