Gates to Aesgaard - Epiode One

You will need to have both the latest patch and OBSE to start with, then as with almost any quest type mod, load it near the end of your load list. This allows it to overwrite most mods that might interfere with it. After you finish it you can move it up out of the way of newer quests if you want to keep it around. Also, check the read me to see if there are any special requirements - such as another mod being needed to work right.

If by OBSE you mean the original file it is downloaded along with the patch for the MOD. Not really sure what you mean move it out of the way. I did move it to the bottom of the load list. Restarted the computer still doesn't work. I really am a novice when it comes to this stuff.

OBSE = Oblivion Script Extender. This is a utility program that extends what can be done by mod makers to improve the game. If they used OBSE to make the mod, then OBSE is required to play it also. Available here: http://obse.silverlock.org/

The patch is the latest Oblivion patch from the game maker. version 1.2.0416, Available free from the game maker here: http://www.elderscrolls.com/downloads/updates_patches.htm

Patching the game:

If you got your game through a download such as D2D, You have to go to them for any patches. The ones at the official site will not work because of the D2D copy protection. Programs like OBSE will probably not work because of the D2D copy protection. If you have a pirate version, sorry about your luck. Don't be so cheap, buy the game.

Edit: I believe the Steam version can use the official patches and OBSE

If you have the Game of the Year version, you don't need a patch.

To find what version you have, look in the lower left corner on the loading screen. If it shows v1.2.0416 you already have the latest patch.

You only need to install the latest patch, v1.2.0416, all of the stuff from earlier patches are included.

If you have Shivering Isles, DO NOT use the Oblivion patch, ONLY use the latest Shivering Isles patch. All of the oblivion stuff is included. There is only one English version SI patch for both US & UK versions.

If you DO NOT have Shivering Isles, use only the latest Oblivion patch for the language version on your original install disk.

Be sure to get your patch from the official Bethesda site where they have FREE patches for every language version, There are 2 English versions, UK & US be sure to get the one that matches your disk.

Got all of that the only thing I do not have is the OBSE. How would I find out if this was used?

I also have the original with all original plug-ins and the new 2 dics GIOTY and I only download from official sites like this one. I'm not even really sure what D2D means but if I were to guess Disk to disk. I have also gone to he official site for this mod and do not get an answer there. That's why I thought I see if anyone here could help. Thanks for getting back to me with the help.

You don't really need to worry about whether the mods you have use OBSE as long as you have it installed. You can download it from where bben said, viz here...

http://obse.silverlock.org/

...then install it, and you're all set for just about all mods on the nexus ;)

Mods that need OBSE will often say so in the readme, or in the posted mod details, but not always.

EDIT: One other thing, if you have the GOTY edition, do install the extra content from the second disk, as some mods use items only found in that.

Thanks for the info I did download the OBSE but haven't unzipped it yet. Was not sure if I should install it if I didn't have a need for it. I guess it wouldn't hurt. I Hope! Thanks again.

I don't know where you got the info that Gates To Aesgaard needs OBSE. It doesn't.

I worked on that mod with ThePriest909 so I can tell you it does not. When I say I worked on it, I wrote all of the books and did a lot of Beta testing as well as providing translation help.

If the game crashes make sure you have the GTA Ep1 ESM loaded immediately below the Oblivion ESM to also prevent land tears that can happen with new world spaces.

GTA Ep1 does not have an ESM file so how can I put it after the Oblivion ESM file. If there is an ESM file I would like to get it all I was able to download was an esp and an update.

I answered your PM. My apologies. It's been so long since I played the mod it doesn't in fact have an ESM.. I'm thinking of Episode Two.

However, you still do not need OBSE to play the mod.

I think you must mean OBMM (Oblivion Mod Manager). It's a tool used to move your mod files up or down in a list to help reduce incompatibilites. It also has many other utilities for managing your mods.

OBMM

Other replies have confused the issue regarding OBSE.

If you are using other mods it would be a good idea to download OBMM (Not OBSE) and make sure the GTA esp is at the bottom of the list.

If you need a walkthrough for GTA I have one that I wrote for it.

The main file for GTA is an exe installer and so is the patch. All you need do is install it like any other program for your computer and the files will go where they are supposed to go. The only other thing to do is make sure the esp is loaded last.
