Want Anchorage and The Pitt Data to be used?

Recommended Posts

Thanks to both of you!

Unfortunately, my lack of knowledge of the GECK is continuing to shine through. Now I gotta figure out how to make it so when you equip my power armor, you get the power armor model, and the matching helmet mesh, from the same item.

I am sure its very easy, but this stuff continues to stump me.

I think you can do this using Form Lists and Armour Addons. It's a bit tricky to figure out at first and will require you to use both the GECK and TESnip. Here's how I'd do it:

  1. Find a suitable Form List, for instance the ArmourPowerList (if you want to use the same glovestyle and such, otherwise almost any list will do. For the sake of this example I'll use the ArmourPowerList.)
  2. Change the name to suit your mod and thus make a clone of the Form List.
  3. Double click the PowerArmourDecalBOS entry and change the name as we want to clone this as well. While you are at it, edit it such that the models listed are the one you want to use for the helmet, the Biped slot it occupies is the helmet slot and any other headgear slot you don't want to allow to be worn at the same time (provided you don't want to allow the player to wear other headgear with the armour) and whether it modulates voice or not.
  4. Find or make the entry for the armour you want the new list to apply to in the GECK and edit it. In the Biped Model List rolldown menu, select your newly made Form List, change the other details as you want and accept the changes.
  5. Save the plugin under whatever name you fancy, close it in the GECK and open it in TESnip (Fallout 3 plugin editor).
  6. You should see several subtrees with a number of groups here. Expand the ones called FLST and ARMA.
  7. In the ARMA group, note down the FormID of your helmet armour addon. In the FLST group, find the PowerArmourDecalBOS subrecord (One of the LNAM entries), doubleclick it and change the FormID to that of your helmet armour addon you just noted down.
  8. Save the plugin.
  9. Test the changes in-game and check if it works. If it doesn't I've screwed up the explanation somewhere, but you probably now have an idea how to get it to work. :)

Hopefully, if I've managed to explain this procedure right and haven't forgotten anything and you have managed to follow it correctly, the armour should now, when worn, also equip the relevant helmet as part of the armour item rather than as a separate item.

Well there's probably other ways of doing it, but this is the first one that comes to my mind. What you want to do is actually not an easy thing to do despite it seeming relatively simple, but I think I got the procedure right in the above post so following it should yield results... eventually. :D

At the very least it should provide anyone else interested in helping out here with some input, so it doesn't hurt having it written down here. ;)
