The MacGyver Game

For those of you that don't know, MacGyver is a 80's tv series starring Richard Dean Anderson as Angus MacGyver, a secret agent who

 

employs his resourcefulness and his knowledge of chemistry, physics, technology, and outdoorsmanship to resolve what are often life-or-death crises. He creates inventions from simple items to solve these problems.

So, I'm going to give you an objective and some simple items you can use to complete it. You're going to tell how you're going to use these items to complete your objective. Then it's your turn to come up with an objective and some items for the next poster.

 

For example:

 

Objective: Light a fire to attract an airplane's attention

Items: A flashlight, some dry grass and some wood.

I'll break the glass, exposing the flashlight's filament and use the heat it generates (because lamps emit light because of the heat) to light the dry grass.

 

• You don't have to use all items
  
• Things don't have to be possible in real life, but they'll have to at least make some sense
  
• Don't make objectives too hard
  
• But do make 'em challenging

Here we go:

 

Objective: Open a locked door

Items: Some ammo, a handkerchief and a small pistol. (You can't just shoot the lock, though.)

(This one is actually from a MacGyver episode. Let's see how many of you remember this. ;D )

i break open one of the bullets and pour the black powder into the hankerchief

i then slip it intot he lock. i then add more black powder to the outside of the hankerchief

i take apart the gun so that the hammer is exposed

strike it againsts ome flint by the hankerchief

it lights because of the powder

and boom, lock is gone

 

 

 

 

new scenario

trapped in a room with rapidly rising water and the door is locked

you have

a dull knife

an office chair

and a floppy disk

there is a smashed light bulb connected tot he cieling

I use the office chair to reach up to the lightbuld and i take out the coils

I then use the dull knife to pry off the protective cover from the floppy disk

I bend the cover multiple times until it breaks

I now have a shimmy and a small coil which i use to pick the lock

And im out .

 

 

New Conflict

 

You are in enemy territory, you are in a room with one door to the rest of the building, you cant go that way because people are potroling the halls, there is also a window but you cant just break it because it would alert your enemies and you are on the second floor, and there is a parking lot below.

Large roll of duck tape

small hammer

box of nails

a circular saw

I cover all of the window expense for a little bit with duck tape use the hammer to to break the window window remove shattered glass stuck to the tape and climb out

 

with a rope fashioned out of duck tape and nail down the rope

your in a cell you see the key 10 meters away on a hook

some old and slightly pliable playdough
