So i'm not sure where to put this but this was my best guess. If its in the wrong place if somebody could move it to the appropriate place it would be appreciated. Essentially my steam version of new vegas won't allow me to start new games for some god forsaken reason. i've done everything I can think of to fix the problem but no luck. What happens is it just asks me if its ok to delete an autosave if one is present and then when I click yes it does nothing. The menu just back to as if I clicked on nothing. I've removed all mods, redownloaded it, deleted absolutly everything to do with the game and redownloaded it and still nothing. If somebody could be so kind as to just make me a male caucassion character (don't care to much about what they look like so long as its just with vanilla hair and such) and save right before using the vigor tester (assuming thats possible) i would really appreciate it. Until I can fix the problem, assuming its fixable, this is basically gonna be how I start new games from this point onward and would like the ability to decide what I look like and what my stats are etc. At the very least don't wander away from good springs so I have the extra chance to change things. Do all that for me and i'd be very apriciative. Also a link to the uploaded file would be super helpful so I don't have to try looking for it. Thanks in advance!

Assuming you're on Windows 7 or later, have you tried running New Vegas in administrator mode?

EDIT: Have you also tried turning it off and o-

Uhh, what about folder permissions? Go to C:\Program files [C:\Program files (x86) for 64-bit users], then:

(NOTE: The following disables user account control for the whole steam folder, which may be the problem preventing New Vegas from saving anything,

1. Right click on the Steam folder, enter properties

2. Untick the read-only attribute, then switch to the Security tab, then click Edit.

3. Select your username, then tick the Full control under the Permissions box right below, then hit OK.

4. A Windows Security popup may show up after hitting OK saying it's applying your settings; it may take a while depending on how many games you have.

I haven't had this problem myself, probably because I have the 4 GB enabler and run that as admin, but if that doesn't work check Documents folder - saves are stored there under My Games\FalloutNV\Saves

I've always run them both in admin mode, although thank you for reminding me I reinstalled it and forgot to make those changes, oddly enough it also had the game in read only mode....I never set that so I have no idea how that happened. I'll have to check my 4GB enabler as well I think since thats how I normally run it.
