Version 3_2 EE - Bras Encrypted Manuscript 'fix' causes a cras

Hey everyone,

I've recently attempted to download and use a Bras NPC quest mod that would allow me to purchase the 4 necessary quest items to finish the 'Encrypted Manuscript' quest.

However, gaining the last item from him via purchase causes a CTD.

No matter what sequence of items, the game simply crashes.

I do not have access to the forest because I have taken a different quest path and I have no other ways of obtaining the items from the game world rather than a mod.

Sadly, the only solution for this is actually outdated (for version 2), so I was hoping that somebody could help me in this situation.

Alright, I found a solution to the Encrypted Manuscript problem if an attempt to purchase the (inaccessible during the current Act) quest items from Bras is made (by editing the def_shops.xml file, of course).

Buying the 4 quest items from Bras will cause the game to crash. So, I simply changed my def_shops.xml to have one of the nearby traders sell the items instead. In this case, I have done this with the Incredible Lockart.

I attached a .zip file containing the edited file (that's a mediafire text link to the same file, by the way) that contains this trader modification. Be aware that Bras also sells these items if the file is applied (too lazy to change that, can't hurt to try, though, right?)

Try purchasing these items from him at your own risk of disappointment.

Hopefully, I've saved hours of 'scouring the Internet time' I have suffered while trying to get this problem solved.
