Zephyr puts his hand to his hand and laughs a little, "Make it to the Mainland? And just what do you think we'll find there? Maybe more survivors and possibly civilization? Yes we may find those things but it's a very small chance and let me tell you what we WILL find, zombies, and lot's of them. The boats on this isle are nothing more than rusted hulls now, they've sat for ages and I doubt they'd even start. The reason we're on this island is to stay AWAY from the mainland, we're not here waiting for rescue, the entire mainland of the Western Hemisphere is infected and the disease has spread to Great Britain and western Europe. All that happened a little under a month ago, we've got to fortify ourselves here, wait for Anton to return and hold out until the infestation ends, which given that zombies decay to nothing in 3 to 5 years and they will be infecting more people as they go along, it'd be 20-40 years." Zeph's eyes seemed to go distant during this grim speech he cared about the world and its people and hated that the disease was destroying everything but he also knew that he could do nothing, no one could, so he would perservere and survive. "Perhaps now you understand the gravity of our situation, going back is not an option, at least not one in the interest of survival." Zeph finished then turned around and walked back into the cave where he was boiling water to purify.

"We WILL NOT die here. Instead of asking when we'll run out of ammo ask yourself this: what do we NEED ammo for. To hunt? We can make bows and fletch arrows not to mention our melee weapons. To defend ourselves? Against what? The isle was chosen because it only has one beach head every other side is cliff face and even the beach is protected by reefs except for a narrow entrance only wide enough to accomadate two or three lifeboats at a time, so a zombie would have to by some miracle either become bloated and float into the bay or stumble across the ocean floor until it walks up onto the beach since they can't swim and the plate convergance less than a thousand feet out from the reefs is a couple thousand foot drop so that's even less likely. Even if a zombie washed ashore we could destroy it's brain by breaking its head open with my crowbar or cut the head off with a machette. Only marauders searching for survivors to steal from would pose a threat and that would be the only instance were guns would be needed and even then we could handle it with melee weapons or those made here. As for food, are you a fool? Look around you! Mango and Papaya grow abundant on the isle, coconuts too, wild berries, edible roots and plants for fruits and vegetables, wild birds, fish, and hogs we need not any food from the mainland we only need our wits and hands to provide, we can and will eat and our water is pure. The whole purpose is coming here is because weather we like it or not the rest of the world is infected and we can do nothing about it or for them, our job is to survive in hopes that mankind will survive with us." Zeph said his gray eyes seemingly ablaze with passion in his brief speech. Deep inside he felt that perhaps the infection happened for a reason, mankind had become too soft, rare was the man or woman who could even camp in a tent for a week not steps away from a store or their house and Zeph hated that, people should know how to survive without all thier creature comforts.

Zeph cradled his head "CALLITON! THINK! I realise you want to help and don't think for a second that I don't want to as well. If you do get off the isle, and let's say by some miracle you survive long enough to find other survivors what will you do then? Can you fend off the near 200 million zombies in America alone? Where will you go, you can't run forever, we lack the numbers to clear a space on the mainland and survive there and the supplies, eventually you'd be destroyed by the gravity of thier numbers. We have to stay here, there are others we all know that but the number one rule to helping people is stay safe yourself. Think about it Calliton what good will you do anyone without a plan, without resources, without the skills to make resources, and, likely if you go blindly rushing off, dead! What help would you be able to give those survivors then?" Zeph said fierly.
