Really urgent iPod help.

Recommended Posts

Syntax1985, I have heard that if you have a jailbroken ipod, you should never uninstall more than 5 apps at a time and some apps that have preferences should be reset to default before being removed...otherwise there is a chance it could become "bricked" and not sync with the PC any longer or fail to boot.

You also void your warranty the second you jailbreak it. Well, Apple won't know unless you try to have them fix it while it was jail broken. If it was working, you could restore it and I doubt they would ever know it was jail broken but the need to take it in under warranty and not being able to restore is a risk you would have to be willing to take. If its out of warranty, no big deal there.

Using utilities such as ZiPhone can also brick it due to being an unstable application that does things it shouldn't.

There are also issues about upgrading firmware that you need to be careful or it could cause your iPod/iPhone to turn into an expensive paperweight.

I've also read somewhere about the need to turn off an apple auto-updater to keep it from being bricked that way too.

FYI - Take everything I say with a grain of salt since I have not tried jailbreaking anything I own.

Nah it's good advice man. You're right, I'm probably gonna do that. I'm at my memory max right now cause I have 13GB of music on there and only like 4 apps. Kinda annoying, but I can't say I'm not responsible. I'm just afraid they'll be like "Oh, it's jailbroken, we're keeping it. You're under arrest!"
