FreshDaemon
This is a fresh install with nothing except the Shivering Isles expansion and nothing else except the 1.2.0416 patch. I installed everything according to the FCOM guide and manually arranged everything by the basic load order. I also tried using BOSS, which didn't help. The game will crash to desktop the instant the first intro movie (the Bethesda Softworks one) finishes or is skipped. The Oblivion logo and the loading bar appear, and it crashes before the loading bar moves. OS is Windows 7 64-bit build 7100. Game runs fine vanilla (I made a zip archive of the complete game directory after fresh install for troubleshooting). Wrye Bash screenshot is attached. Can I get some help please? Thanks in advance! http://la.gg/upl/WryeBash.jpg
mimada
I noticed you don't have the Bashed Patch. You'll find it in \Oblivion\Mopy\Extras\. It's called "Bashed Patch, 0.esp". Put a copy in your Data directory then start up Wrye Bash. Highlight all of the mods (Click on the first mod at the top of the list, hold shift, and click on the last one at the bottom). Right click on the selected mods and choose "Mark Mergeable...". Click on Bashed Patch, 0.esp to deselect all the mods except the patch. Right-click on Bashed Patch and select "Rebuild Patch". Remember to run BOSS.
FreshDaemon
OK, I did all that and it made no difference. It said that only 4 of them were mergeable, but I rebuilt the bashed patch, checked it in the list, ran BOSS and then ran Oblivion - CTD in exactly the same spot. What else is there? mimada
Look over the BOSS output. It will usually tell you when you have a problem. Also, CTDs occur when you select a FCOM option without installing the dependencies. For example, if you installed the Cobl version of a file without installing Cobl. FreshDaemon
I don't see anything that ought to cause a problem. Everything in Wrye Bash is green or blue, no indications that any dependency might be missing. I followed the FCOM install instructions to the letter, I'm certain of that. mimada
I don't see anything wrong offhand. I reinstalled FCOM a few days ago and it works fine on my system. Are you using Vista? If so, you need to install Oblivion outside of the Program Files folder. Also, do you have the latest version of the required files?
FreshDaemon
Yep, latest versions. Just downloaded a couple of days ago. I'm running Windows 7 64-bit, nothing has caused a problem so far, UAC and all that has been disabled. Fallout 3 runs fine with about 8GB of mods installed, and it lives in the Program Files (x86) folder.
mimada
Oblivion and Windows 7 may not be working together very well. Remember, Fallout was made after Vista came out so it's fully compatible with the OS. I would uninstall Oblivion, reinstall outside of the Program Files directory, then try FCOM. I know this is a real pain, but I haven't tried Windows 7 to know if there is another workaround. Sorry.
FreshDaemon
I'll give that a shot. I suspect it's not the answer though, because Oblivion runs fine under Win7 without FCOM installed. I even tried a bunch of other mods like the Darnified UI, Qarl's, LOD packs and so on, and it all works great. It's just FCOM that screws everything up. In the meantime, since that will take quite a while, any more ideas?
mimada
The mods you've listed don't have any active components that would trigger the Oblivion mod/Vista issue. FCOM should work once Oblivion is in its own directory.
