When they are reacting its from about 4000 units, which is basically the same distance the stock snipers react at. alienzerox Posted March 13, 2014 Share Posted March 13, 2014 i just dled and used sniper tower 7 out of the VonWolsungmod & was able to fast-travel up onto the tower to snipe 4 legionaries + 2 fiends so that works ... are you building on top of this mod? I was able to spot the targets bc I have TAC from Gophers advanced recon & the radar mod ... otherwise the targets were mere specks ... pretty sure they use the feet bc of the advancing distant from toon to npc .. it's the whole magic sensor they have and not LOS --- they know you are there even if I were behind a wall --- which always irked me with these games, stupid thing is that if you crouch and have high sneak skills you can defeat it. irswat Posted March 13, 2014 Author Share Posted March 13, 2014 I'm using his towers. I am creating my own snipers to place on top of the towers. There are no good snipers in this game that present a real challenge so I thought I'd take some of the various sniper mods (ghillie suits, ghillie armor, ghillie sniper rifle, sniper towers, and sniper prone) and combine them all together and then make some custom snipers and place them all over the wasteland. As of now I am just trying to get these custom snipers working so they present a real challenge to the player. In order to do this the sniper needs to react to the player at approximately the same distance that the player can react to an NPC which I guess to be about 11000 units. The stock snipers in the game react at less then 4000 units which makes them unchallenging. Once these snipers work my next challenge is prone snipers :-). Then I want to make it so they don't show up on the various radar mods. Lastly I intend to create a new underground worldspace that connects all the sniper towers with some background story explaining why they are there, and what they are protecting. I would like to incorporate some new ideas like a quest where you are in a passenger in a sniper nest mounted on an AI controlled XRE Hummer driving through a 'sniper alley' with snipers on towers all around, could be fun. I am really frustrated my variables aren't updating...it's the strangest thing. I suspect it's part of the problem. i need sleep. ill look at it with new eyes on the flip. alienzerox Posted March 13, 2014 Share Posted March 13, 2014 (edited) I got right into their backyard and was able to scan them ... they did not shoot at me bc I was not their enemy so I'm not seen as a threat ... did you add that variable to the script ... the NCR love me and the Legion hate me ... when I scanned the 2 snipers they had no faction tags ... which version of NVSE are you using bc I'm on 1.4 and I got error messages up the wazzu with your or the fortress mod I had to get to help test ... plus I'm getting missing mesh issues from the snipers yeah it's your WIP that is causing errors with my NVSE Edited March 13, 2014 by alienzerox Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
irswat Posted March 13, 2014 Author Share Posted March 13, 2014 (edited) The Snipers are part of the GeneralHostileToPlayer faction and indeed the playerfaction is set as enemy. The unit looks like it is NCR but it isn't. Where are you seeing these error messages? May I see a copy of the log your looking at?I get a ton of error messages when I try to compile the scripts using geck power up, but I click yes to all and they seem to compile.
