Help with a Mobile Turret Companion

Hey guys, I'm a novice at modding, I've translated plenty of mods, so I know my way around the GECK to an extent, but I need some help with a mod I want to create.

Recently a modder released a resource for a mobile turret based off the Robobrain. I want to make this into a companion, but all I've managed to do so far is follow the Companion Creation guide here on the Nexus for NPCs, which doesn't exactly help me to do what I need to do.

I'm trying to get the Robot into the Goodsprings cell, but apparently it does not have an idle animation, so I get errors when I try to place it. It is also extremely oversized, so I am also trying to scale it down, which I don't know how to do.

The resource comes with a mesh and a texture set. The mesh I have successfully linked to the Creature I've created in the GECK, but the Texture I can't seem to get linked. The author told me that he usually uses Nifscope or FNVEdit to do this, but I have no idea how to accomplish that.

I think in this case I can't use any GECK templates, and I have to do a lot manually, right?

Let me recap.

I need to:

1. Link the Texture to the Creature.

2. Create or use an idle animation.

3. Scale the model down so it's not enormous; at this point it's twice the size of a truck in the game.



I have some plans for a story, but for now, I just want to get it in-game and performing the basic task of combat and carrying gear.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah, that's what I feared. Sounds like there's a lot of work to be done before I could do anything with it in the GECK. I still think I am willing to put the work into it, if there is a decent guide for how to rig skeletons. I have no idea how to do any of that, so I think it would be a real challenge for me.
