Starsickle
Among some other ideas, I sometimes wonder if it's possible to read data from saves, or create data from saves where your own character, Faction statuses, equipment and all can be encountered in the wasteland. Certainly would be fun hunting down your Evil Character as one of your alts. I figure you'd have to either create a very easy way to create NPCs to insert into the database, or somehow take data and put it's attributes into a dummy NPC entry and give it a location relative to where it may be. It's a tall order...I wonder what you folks think?
ryann122
ive wanted a mod like this so my main character could meet characters from other saves and use them as COMPAINOINS EVEN.that would be awsome but almost impossible to do tho. spectrex
lol. that would be a cool concept. they sort of do that in the Sims, where you interact with characters you've created prior. that would be nifty :)
Manoil
Granted, I'm not exactly knowledgeable in this area, but the only way this sounds plausible is to build a custom NPC with the save file's stats and on-hand inventory. To get any further, you'd probably need source code plus a whole shebang of complicated nonsense. Probably more effort than what it's worth. Callighan
There's at least two script commands that can morph an NPC's face and race to resemble yours. The only thing the NPC can't copy is hair. Stats can be copied. So yes, do-able. And not too much effort.
simonjester
well, the problem is, I think the idea is to use OTHER characters, not the actively being played one, like grab from other save files.
Khet
even with FOSE I believe this would be impossible. There's no way in a mod to read data from a previous save. However, for you folks interested, there might be a way to do it yourself. Now, I don't know what's required or how hard it is to do but I've heard of people using faces of characters from a save as an NPC in a mod (extracting the facegen data and all that jazz, like I said, dunno how to do it) From there, you could simply make an NPC with the inventory/facial data, and add it to the Random Encounters lists and voila, you can now meet characters from other 'saves' so to speak. Problem is, each person would have to do this on their own, and for each of their characters. Don't think there's any other way.
Starsickle
That's disappointing. Although, if there was way to do the hair we might be in business...you then set the factions and equipment you could at least do doppelgangers...but isn't there a fullactorcopy command? If only there was a way to get at the data in those saves... How does FOSE get at data to run itself? Maybe if there was some sort of data read that fose already has we could convert saves to that, have parts of the mod do what they do. Maybe we need something with a little more kick than FOSE? I like the idea of at least encountering my own characters. Don't need a huge story, but would at least be neat to see their presence in the wasteland after all that running around.
