I like this aspect of the game and I spend a lot of time in my oblivion houses. I actually even find it fun to drop off tons of cm partners in each one and we have little parties occassionlly lol.

I once was an aspiring interior designer but I am not very good at that :P so I am now just more of an avid aficionado of nice houses.

Anyway just curious and I really, really, really want to know what houses you have found and use that you really like! Links at least would be nice, because I want to see the awesome houses you mention!

For me personally, I use and love all of these houses:

The Black Rock Manor (it's located above a water fall, has a cute little swimming area right in front of it, features a fun red themed bedroom, an awesome bar, and the interior is sooo gorgeous and cozy, the pictures hardly do the house justice! I love it)

The Mountain Tower (I downloaded it mainly for the pool in the lower level :P. But its actually a very nice house and somehow emanates a strong aura of mysticism. mystery, and magic.)

Elysian Estates (Wow. Just, wow! Nice sized house with beautiful interior design and landscaping. I highly recommend!!!!!!)

Cheydinhal House Revamped (it's nice, cozy, and good furnishing, with opportunity to add your own decorating touches to it. Definitely a much improved Cheydinhal house. I really wanted this one because Cheydinhal is my favorite town in the game. Lleyawin is my second fave)

And that's all. I have been hoping to see some houses with really nice pool additions or really great landscaping.

Bayview Villa:

http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=7539

Built in Anvil style in the waters of Topal Bay, costs 90000 septims (I think), but you can just use add.item 0000000F 90000 to get that, if you need to and aren't all for immersion.

Great landscaping, well lit interior, well planned interior, well decorated interior. Comes with three NPC's, but they all sit in one room and don't do anything. I personally added Mercenary guards and then populated it with CM Partners, unfortunately, I've gathered to many NPC's and felt the need to upgrade, but I can't find anything that quite fits.

So, in staying with the spirit of the thread, if anyone knows of a decent sized castle that's not creepy and dark, but rather, well lit with a large, open courtyard, let me know, I've tried Seaview, kills my FPS, had Almgard, same problem, have Castle Nibenay, was extremely disappointed, but may make a similar castle once I can get a floor plan laid down.

Frostcrag reborn:

http://www.frostcragreborn.com/

Requires DLCFrostcrag.esp (an official plugin)

Best housemod ever in my opinion, It revamps vanilla frostcrag tower and makes it something truely amazing. The architecture is awesome. And it has a good quest to unlock the full house. Once the full house is unlocked, it truely becomes THE BEST house out there. It also has a dungeon beneath it that literally took me half a day (im not joking, 6 or so hours) to completely explore and complete.

i recommend my own mod "Coldstone"... take a look !

evil character only !

So its a house and a little town? Wow, thats so cool! I loved what I saw in the pictures- the town actually looks better to me than most of the vanilla towns! Seemed to have a more genuine medieval feel to it, and a more genuine feel overall. I like the little touches that you added outdoors too. I downloaded it of course! :) Thanks for sharing

The view is definitely beautiful from this house and the dock and ship was such a cute idea! I am very curious about what good castle mods are available too! I haven't really tried to find one though. I love castles in real life so I wouldn't mind having a really nice one in my oblivion game. :)

WOW. Holy crap man, that is amazing. I had to download that especially after watching the vid. I know my boyfriend will love it too, maybe even more than me. Love that one, thanks!

Randomart, I just found something that you may or may not like a few days ago here called Azure Palace. It isn't a castle, it's a palace as the title states, but you still might like it! I find the vanilla castles...dull and depressing and very boring. This palace is HUGE and it has several different rooms that you can place CM partners in... I really could go on and on about the rooms and how unique and amazing each one is, but you should see for yourself! I will say though that my favorite room is the "Pools" room. I was in awe when I first saw it and I really want something like that for myself!!! The Eden room and the cherry retreat also rule... again both took my breath away and made me go 'wow'.

Im going to sound like a %&$!, but I don't like the interior and that just knocks it off the list for me. I don't like the "lodge"esque feel of the palace, I think it would be better if it stayed in theme with the exterior, which seemed to be done in Imperial City style. The exterior is gorgeous, but the interior kills it for me.

Another awesome house mod is Topal Island. Sorry I can't offer up links right now, my iPod won't copy URLs for some reason.

It's an island connected with a short bridge to the east side of Topal Bay. There is a lighthouse and a residence, both in Anvil style, on the island, which is fairly small, as well as a ship at the end (which I, personally think, needs to be a different ship, something more fitting). There's a fully stocked Alchemy garden and a ridiculously unbalancing sword that comes with it (which I just put in display because I don't like unbalancing items). There is an NPC, but, as far as I can tell, shee doesn't do too much. It's a smaller house Mod, but very well made.

Also, Mountain Retreat. A gorgeous little estate (almost) up in the southern mountains in the east (I can't remember the name...) with two farmhouses, a treehouse, and a manor house (the interior of which I'm not a big fan of, but it would be easy to go into the CS and lighten it up). There's a stable and plenty if space for any CM's you might want to put in. A major pain in the ass to find, though.
