BrokenSwords
Hello, My oblivion has recently started crashing alot Story so far...im playing my game and i start to notice these little dots or pixels flashing all over the place, i think nothing of it so i keep on with my travels, then the game just freezes, i get a blank screen and then it comes back after a while but highly pixelated and colours all over the place then it rights itself, i keep on with my travels and it happens again and comes back... but the third time it happens it doesnt come back, it crashes all together but you can stil here the sounds the game is making, so i have to go into take manager and end it manually that works, but when i try to start oblvion again an error message come up and says "Failed to initialize renderer.NixAdapterDesc::GetDeviceCaps() failed." so i cant play oblivion and the only way to is to restart my computer, what should i do about it, i dont think its my graphics card or my monitor can anyone tell me what it is ? please and thankyou. yours sincerely Brokenswordsa.k.a DC
Qwaxalot
Sounds like it's overheating. Try opening the case and cleaning out all the dust bunnies (disconnect the power first). Pay special attention to the fans and heat sinks. While you're in there reseat the graphics card. You might also try updating your video drivers, although I doubt this is the problem. Thank you very much for your help. I told my cousin who is a computer engineer about your overheating theory and he agreed. He came over and vacuumed out the Fan and heat sink on my graphics card and reduced the temperature from 98 degrees C to around 70. No problems so far. thanks again
