pjtr
I have just started playing through fallout III again, having finally gotten the hardware the game deserves, and like the last time I'm enjoying myself immensly. However, I am starting to wonder about my two companions (in the version I played earlier I seem to remember you could only have one at a time?) Charon and Dogmeat. They seem to be almost impossible to kill, once in a while they lose some hits, but they are quickly regained and they never seem to be in real trouble - in fact I can just hide away and let them do the killing for me, which is not so satisfying 8) . I seem to remember that when I played the last time they, and especially Dogmeat, were much harder to keep alive. As an experiment I walked directly into the Mall and just did my best to hide - after a while my trusty companion had killed every supermutant in sight, including several masters with miniguns, and though Charon was down to half his hits at some point, when he finished he was fine again. I am playing version 1.6 on hard (am having trouble getting 1.7 to work). Could it be some of my mods doing something strange? I have the following installed: Real Injuries, Primary Needs, FOMM, Archive Invalidation Invalidator and Dimonized bodies  , as well as point lookout and broken steel. VerbalEarthworm
Broken-Steel does make the companions and some other npc's more powerful, the mods you are using do not. it's possible to set companions to essential so that they go unconscious instead of dying. even if Charon and Dogmeat did die on you, you would still re-load your last save to resurrect them. it's all much of a muchness. ZeonicGlory
Companions already had regenerating health, even in vanilla FO3.
