ThatLoliCardinal
I've yet to see any mod like this on nexus, so I thought i might as well suggest it on here hoping someone would like the idea and make it reality. I've been talking to a few friends about what if oblivion had actual skills, similar to mmos. That are based on, well your skills. For example: you're rank in Blade is 75+ you can learn a skill like Backstab, where if you're behind you're target facing their back you strike with a power attack that has a 40% chance of tripled damage, but if you're not facing their back the attack does no bonus damage. Something in that manner. I'm sure i can list alot of other examples to each skill set according to the class or skill. Any number of skills is depended on the creator since i have little to no experience in modding oblivion, but I would think its best to make it a limit of 8 skills to have active outside of towns . Say you can change skills when you're inside the town of Bruma, but once you leave outside in the world you can no longer change them until you return to town. The limit of 8 would be because they'd be linked to of course your 1-8 number keys. Anymore would seem like a hassle to remember. The skills have their own animation as well each one does some special animation that defers from regular hack n slash attacks. Spells on the other hand can be the default, they're already a keystroke/click cast similar to skills, only difference is that in this case you don't have to click with your mouse to cast or attack. For example lets say the 8 key would activate fireball, you press the key in combat, and your avatar would immediately cast it in the direction you are pointing. Although it doesn't have to be this way it can be just based off the hot key. So either attack skills and spells are both activated immediately or spells are activated the way they are like the vanilla version. If attack skills are set differently, then they'd be instant instead of setting the hot key on which ever number you wanted and later click to activate it, as where spells are activated vanilla version. The way the skills are activated can be set by how ever the creators wants though imo. Just trying to keep the spectrum broad. The interface would have to be modified as well.Adding a skill bar for you selected 8 skills. Just above the compass in the middle of the screen or to its right, so its not covering you're screen, but still visible so that you're know what skill is linked to what key. Also another page added to your spell list that has the listed spells that you've learned. How the skills are acquired is up to the modder as well. I think it should be learned by a trainer, or through the progression of rank your skills reach. I didn't mean to make this such a TL;DR and it would have been even longer if i listed all the skills link to the vanilla skills, and their functions etc etc. If anyone likes this idea and would like to take up the task of making oblivion a bit more of a challenge and possibly more fun then send me a pm or leave a reply here for more details, I have quite a bit of more ideas behind this one. I just didn't want to make this way too long where the reader would leave his keyboard. Cheers ^^
Natsu666
Can I have a tl;dr version?? Or a simplified one? I kind of understand but can u simplify?
LoginToDownload
Skill Specialization sounds like what you want, though it doesn't reach 8 possible skills available at once and they're all activated via "spells". Also no new animations. Even includes the Backstab example. :D The widely popular Deadly Reflex adds a vast many more options to combat. I really like the idea of hotkeys auto-casting whatever spell they're keyed to. I think I'll turn that into an all-purpose mod, giving you credit. Many thanks for the suggestion. For the post above i'll post a picture of a skill bar in oblivion to get a better understanding. Press the number keys to activate the skill in combat. In short you have official skills that you can activate in combat that have a unique ability.
