Help changing character face

Hi,

I'm new to Oblivion...and modding it. I have a female dark elf character with the HGEC Guts body. I just started and I'm out of the sewers and messed around in the city a bit. Now I'd like to change the face to something else than the stock made one. I have Face Exchange Lite installed but can't get it to work with the KFME V4 REV mod by idkrrr there are no .off files in the Zip file. Also I'd like to try the Llathsu Evos save file for the face only, not the character. I think I would need to have the lineage mod installed for Llathsu Evos. But what about the KFME V4 REV? I'd like to stay with the current skin color and hair style and color as well.

Is there a way to do this or do I have to start over as a new character with different mods installed first? I've been able to install a set of armor if that helps.

Any help would be great. thanks.

If Face Exchange Lite doesn't work for you Wrye Bash can do this for you if you only want the face.

To use this tool you'll have to download several other files but they all come in one package. It might look daunting at first but if you just read up on the relevant sections you need it's not that hard. Besides it will do many, many other things you'll find useful in the future when you start adding more mods.

It's like an all in one Swiss Army Knife..

Whoa..... that looks complicated! I don't know what would melt first, my brain or my pc. I'm afraid if I use that program wrong I could really do some damage to the game and have to start over from scratch. Thanks for the suggestion. I'll look more into it, but it looks like a lot of work just to change my characters face.

I did some searching and I wonder if using the showracemenu console command would work. What do you think?

Showracemenu will allow you to change the face (it brings up the chargen menu for race), but it also resets your stats. There's a glitch or something you can do that will let you keep them, but Wrye Bash's face transfer is easier. This is all you have to do for it. I have Vista, so I have to use Bash, but it won't screw up your character or your game. It could, but all you have to do is not touch anything if you don't know what it does. Bash is totally separate from the game, and won't do anything you don't tell it to do. Wrye is that awesome. It also has oodles of other useful stuff in it--a load order config, a thing that will let you deactivate an ESM file, and a function that copies your modlist for easy troubleshooting, and that's only some of the stuff. It can also fix some corrupted saves. I'd highly recommend it.

Ok, I'll give it a shot. One thing though, I have the oblivion mod manager and I have some stuff running from it already. Is there any potential problems using both at the same time? Sorry for my ignorance about this stuff. Thanks for the suggestion.

There's actually a way to use "showracemenu" without it resetting your stats.

As said before, go to console and type the cheat. Then alter your character's face as you wish.

But don't click done in the race menu. Don't close it at all! Rather, open the console again while in race menu, and then with the console open, open the main menu. Go and save your game (You must have the console open in the main menu, or you cannot save). Your game should be saved and the race menu still up. Open the main menu again and load the last save you made just a second ago. You should have your character with their altered face, but the same stats as before.
