Level ten

The amount of crashing in fallout 3 is borderline criminal. Sometimes it crashes my graphics card for no particular reason, sometimes it crashes because I turned left when it wanted me to turn right and sometimes it simply freezes because it had nothing better to do. No set schedule for it, no real obvious reason as to why. How a company could get away with releasing a game that is so bug ridden, and still is now after 4 DLC's and a handful of patches boggles the mind.

 

But dammit I persist, because the game is good. But seriously, Stalker crashed less. And Stalker crashed alot.

 

However I digress. My problem today is this.

 

I recently hit level ten for the billionth time. Cue celebratory music, spend some points, pick a perk... and *BAM* it freezes.

 

At first I thought it just the one perk that was bugged. So I reloaded and tried again. And again, and again, and again with all the perks available. Low and behold, it wont let me get past level ten without freezing.

 

Now I'm currently running a plethora of mods and all the DLC's, or at least I was until I turned them all off and tried to replicate the problem with a vanilla run. Which proved that the game still didn't want me to succeed. So I come to you now and ask...

 

Is this a common problem?

Is there some sort of solution?

Does Todd Howard sit in his officer, cackling madly at the thought of fans wasting countless hours trying to get his game to run?

 

But seriously. Is there a fix to this, is this a common problem or am I s**t outta luck?

 

*Also, is there a fix for crashing when using vats, crashing when throwing a grenade sometimes, crashing when you look at your pipboy, crashing whilst reloading, crashing after a headshot, crashing while jumping, crashing after recovering from a crash, crashing whilst opening a container, crashing whilst listening to the 12th audio log from Mothership Zeta, crashing whilst wondering whats on audio log 12 from Mothership zeta and crashing three seconds after loading a saved game?

 

Though these I can at least sort of fix with constantly saving. sort of.

You bet he is.

 

As for crashing-while-doing-anything - have you modified the Fallout.ini/FalloutPrefs.ini? If yes, just move it to safe location and try to run vanilla.

It seems that your Fo3 crashes when trying to process the new data.

Is your HDD defragmented?

Are you running some other programs while trying to play?

Is your game installed in \Program Files on Vista?

Alright. So after a complete wipe, an OCD restructuing of my mods and a general spring cleaning of them. I think I've fixed it.

 

That is to say, the game seems to be working alright now, though when we get to level ten we'll see.

 

FWE doesn't seem to wanna work though. ehh.. either way.

 

Give me a day or two.
