Does anyone now how to make a script where music can be played in certain areas like if you have music that fits with a tavern, the script would allow only that song to be played. Im not a fan of the playlist type that Bethesda made for the game.

No need for scripting here!:)

Open up your Oblivion folder -> data -> Music then u'll find Public, Dungeon and Explorer.

Public: the soundtracks for all houses and cities.

Dungeon: for dungeons, caves and other dark places.

Explorer: for the exterior.

Inside the Public folder you will find tracks named "town_XX"

Inside the Dungeon folder: "dungeon_XX"

Inside the Exploerer: "atmosphere_XX"

Now when you know that, here comes the guide

Select the music you want oblivion to play.

Then rename it to atmosphere_XX / dungeon_XX / town_XX (depends on wich of the 3 places you want your music to play)

Put it into your Dungeon or public or Explore folder.

either you can replace the old files, or put your new files in on the end, I prefer replacing. Cuz otherwise your gonna have to wait for a while till' your music starts (since it has to play all the other soundtracks through first)

NOTE: IF YOU ONLY HAVE 1 COPY OF YOUR FILE IN THE FOLDER, IT WILL ONLY PLAY ONE TIME, AND IT WILL NOT LOOP.

So if you want your music to loop, your gonna have to copypaste and then change the number(example: Atmosphere_01 [COPYPASTE] Atmosphere_01(copy) [RENAME COPY] Atmosphere_02)

and so on, untill you got enough copies. 8 will do, since your most likely not gonna stand in the same area for 10 minutes without doing anything, the soundtracks will replay when you leave a combat, enter a new place (has to show loadscreen)

Im sorry if my guide was a lil hard, feel free to PM me

NOTE 2: you should store the old music files as a backup, if you should get tired of your custom soundtracks(if u replace)

Notice: XX represents an unkown number, since you choose if you want to replace the old music, or just add your music so it'll play after the original ones.
