J13_Knightmare
Hi all. I'm currently working on my new clothing mod and I've come up to a bit of a hangup. I want to add my new clothes to Fallout rather than making them replace the existing clothes. I'm wondering, how do I add them? Can anyone point out a good tutorial or even better take up part of the work load? Normally I hate asking for help, especially when I can probably find the answers I'm looking for myself, but I'm very busy with school and whatnot. I work with the spare time I get, anything to speed up the process would be most appreciated. And of course if someone does help with the mod I'll give credit. Thanks for taking the time to read this post and I hope someone can help.
Skree000
to add objects as new stuff, open an existing object similar to the one you want to add, then just change the name and hit OK and it will ask to 'make a new form?' say, yes, and boom your new one is there. Open it up and edit its stats etc, rename it... w/e To get your custom clothing to be hooked up to that object formid you have to have the .nif file of it in the fallout3/data/meshes/ folder somewhere. usually its best practice to put it in a subfolder of your name followed by the name of your mod, incase you make more mods in the future. for me i put my stuff in fallout3/data/meshes/Skree000/bf2142/ because im working on that mod right now... know what i mean :) organization is the key! (also helps people uninstall your mod by hand if they so choose) To get your nifs made, thats a whole nother beast, but since you only asked how to make new entries in GECK, there you go :)
J13_Knightmare
Ah excellent, I'll get on doing some test runs tomorrow after class and hopefully get some good results. Thanks a lot for the help. Cheers mate.
Baelkin
If you aren't making any changes to the meshes themselves you can also use Texture Sets in the GECK to assign a new texture to your new item. Depending on what you want to do with the retex you might have to use the method Skree outlined above though, but that's mostly if you are making a texture that doesn't normally have glowing bits on it to have just that. If you are instersted in this method, try searching on the string "+texture +set" using the forum search engine as that should yield a number of threads discussing or describing the method. J13_Knightmare
Thanks for the tip, Baelkin. I'll look into that while doing my test runs.
