David Brasher
Rain, excessive number of lights in close proximity, many NPCs with complex scripts in one area, and grass are all huge culprits in causing lag. On my system, grass is the very worst thing. When walking in the grass in the rain, sometimes I get mad, give up, and fast travel. I really doubt that what you have done is causing lag. The lag was already there before you started and what you have done should have lessened it. Don't undo your change. Or if you do, be sure to make it easy to reinstall your change if you have to. Sharkull
Yeah... I've come to the conclusion that the lag I mentioned is probably unrelated. (I turned off grass a long time ago... it was a huge performance killer for me). However I've decided the all-alpha texture might not be the best method to achieve my goal, so...You can delete objects entirely from their list BUT THIS MAY CAUSE PROBLEMS. I haven't tried this at all yet so use discretion and ask around about it (unless someone posts the answer here...I thank anyone who does).I've tried this with the fx in question (6 in all), and after a couple hours of play-testing, all seems well. It makes more sense to me this way, because the objects shouldn't even be used (thinking that an object with a blank texture would still use some system resources). There should be error checking code for handling missing object references (for mod removal...) so I'm thinking this should be stable and my ideal solution. :)
