Silence not working.

I've not really noticed this for a while because I usually kill things faster than they can react, but I've come to realise my silencing poisons don't do a damned thing to magic caster enemies. I shoot them with my arrow laced with a poison of silence, they just heal right up. Its really annoying. Does anyone know what might be causing this?

Might be a stupid question but are you sure they heal themselves with a spell? They might heal with a help of potions. Also, when they are silenced, they still can use scrolls, so they might shoot a destruction spell at you or two. If it's not that, then I don't know what could have caused this.

I shot a spriggan today. She lifted her hand and white glowy magic happened and she healed herself. Then she summoned a bear. I'm quite sure they don't carry any scrolls or potions. They keep doing that.

Try drinking a silencing potion and casting a spell, does it work?

I may be wrong (haven't verified it in the CS), but I don't think silence has any affect on lesser or greater power spells (like star of the west, wraith curses, etc.). It only blocks regular spells, like flare or restore health.

 

I'm thinking that as the spriggans can only use their spells a few times, that they are greater or lesser powers.

I think Jaosals has the right of it. Spriggans use powers instead of spells, which aren't affected by Silence.

Spriggans are cheating bitches; They have four Powers: summon Bear, Spriggan heal1, Spriggan Heal2 and Spriggan Heal3...

Actually, that's probably a callback to Morrowind and Daggerfall where they had three lives.
