aceball69
in some areas of this cell I'm working on, its like there is an invisible, rectangular shield that's keeping me from laying down texture in that specific area. Any ideas, advice, or suggestions as o why this is happening and how i can fix it? any help is greatly appreciated because really... im lost without some guidance. lol thanks in advance
Pronam
Do you mean you can't change the texture? As there is a limit to the amount of textures that can be laid on one area..That happens often when you've used quite some of them, while you've picked another some places are still showing that additional texture (even how tiny it might be). So that the limit holds.
aceball69
thanks for the fast reply. the thing is, i haven't laid down any textures. its a cell in Weye exterior a little west of the little farm house. lets say there IS the max limit of textures... if i wanted to maybe replace the textures in that particular cell, how would go about doing that so i can use some of my own (different ones)? the reason being there is tall grass and when i place a house down there appears to be grass protruding from the sides... obviously i dont want that :P

See this tutorial for some info on landscape texturing. David Brasher
There are lines all over the world, and you must be on the proper side of a line to use a particular texture. You have to experiment a lot to figure out which textures are allowed on which sides of which lines. To me, the most useful thing is copying an existing texture from real close to where I am working, rather than scrolling through the annoying list. Use Control + Right Click to select an existing texture you want to use. Many textures come in "Grass" and "NoGrass." They are rendered the same in the CS which is incredibly annoying. Click on "ID" to sort all the textures differently. It will place the "Grass" next to the "NoGrass" in the list. Find your bad grass which is sticking through the walls of your house. Change to the "NoGrass" version and brush it all around the ground in the area in question. Go wider than you expect you will need to, and play-test thoroughly.
