Warhammer 40,000 MMO in the works

A couple days ago a friend of mine told me he heard about a Warhammer 40K MMO on some blog. I didn't trust where his information came from so I did some digging myself. I learned that THQ and Vigil games are indeed in the works for an MMO based off of Games Workshop's IP. I'm not sure if I've made it well known here but I'm a HUGE WH 40K fan and an even bigger fan of the space marines. This article from Gamespot http://www.gamespot.com/news/6166560.html mentions the MMO. This was from 2007 though so I thought that it could have been cancelled by now but if you look at vigil games site http://www.vigilgames.com/news_110707.php it's on there as an ongoing project so it is indeed still alive just very quiet. I'm a little concerned that a new developer is heading the project but their staff includes many veterans from various companies like NCSoft and Blizzard entertainment.

 

Another of THQ's Developers Relic, creators of the Dawn of War franchise are also hard at work making me nerd giddy. Relic is in the final stages of their newest Warhammer game Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine. A trailer can be found here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aFHKIFDjk9I. I'm not gonna lie, I'm all kinds of excited for Space Marine. The thought of soaring 20-30 feet through the air guided by wings of fire. Then two tonnes of fury comming down on the mutants and heretics with a forceful pound of the mighty thunderhammer made my deepest, inner most nerd cry tears of joy. If Space Marine is even half as epic as those 105 seconds make it look I will be one happy gamer.
