CCoconut
This is perhaps a rather odd request; most I've come across looking for this wanted the opposite, which is to say the mask, without the helmet. I'm quite fond of the shape of the helmets on the Ranger and riot armours, but not so fond of the masks and visors - especially with Project Nevada installed. Not sure how to go about it; I expect deleting the mask would be simple enough, but adding an inside to the upper helmet seems like it might be complex. Perhaps a heavily edited combat helmet? I don't know. Faffing about in FNVEdit is about the limits of my skill. So if someone could maybe take a look at seperating mask and helmet into two different items, that'd be great, thanks. flamenx01
Try this mod I think these helmets are based of the riot ones: http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/40091/?also in project Nevada you can turn the visor overlays off if they are annoying you in the mod configuration menu. devinpatterson
So if someone could maybe take a look at seperating mask and helmet into two different items, that'd be great, thanks. You know I'm not a 100% positive but I think they are a seperate vertex group, so they are trivial to separate. I have no idea if they have to faces or only one side, but you can always just use stencil if that's the case. I don't see why one couldn't use the body slots so you could wear one, the other or both at the players whim. I'll try to take a look at it tonight. I tried having a go at it myself, though I'm not sure about fit on the earpiece as it crashed the game when I tried using it. Ideas?

devinpatterson
Seems OK in game. Pic; http://i1066.photobucket.com/albums/u404/devinlpatterson/FONV%20Mods-works%20in%20progress/rangerHelmetOnlySmall_zpsae22ccaf.jpg http://i1066.photobucket.com/albums/u404/devinlpatterson/FONV%20Mods-works%20in%20progress/rangerHelmetOnly_zps7e476ed1.jpg generated an egm file and a go model for it as well. Let me make a script to (non destructively) add to the form lists.
devinpatterson
OK here is the archive. Just unrar it into your data directory and select the esp in your launcher of choice. It should add the helmet and associated formlists automatically.I'm making some extended ranger equipment (armor, weapons etc) for the Rangers coming back from Baja, so I'll take a shot at the mask and other additions soon. Have to jet for a few hours, but reply in the thread if you have any problems.
CCoconut
Thanks. What are EGM and GO files, by the way?I think the GO is the world model, the one that goes 'thunk clatter rattle' underfoot while you walk to the weapon cabinet, but I'm not sure what the other one does. For your project; someone, I can't remember who, modified the Ranger/Riot/Desert Ranger/Courier armours so the coat wasn't doing a constant Marilyn Monroe; personally I think it'd be better shortened to above the knee, so it didn't clip so badly, but it's a definite improvement. Do you mind linking to a guide for importing/exporting .nifs?I really do think my one looks tidier, but I've got no idea how to export it properly. Thanks in advance. Yeah that's the go or world model. The egm is a file that allows something like a hat or hair to morph to different head shapes (when we customize our players characters) so it fits. OK I'll take a look for it, adn I'll probably add some shorter ones myself....I want a bit of variety. Do you mind linking to a guide for importing/exporting .nifs? I really do think my one looks tidier, but I've got no idea how to export it properly. I don't have an import/export guide. I select export body parts, and shadow map. Anyway catch you later brother.
