I've tried using the guide on here and i'm still having problems. Sometimes when i extract the files then they go to the oblivion data files they will have the mesh, texture, and esp. but then one of the other files will also have a copy of the esp in it? Also when I download armor or something I have the mesh and texture in the datafiles but they are invisible in the game. I have to rename all the mesh and texture files because there are already files named "mesh' and "texture."

Never - NEVER rename any files - unless the install instructions tell you to do so. If you do, the game will not be able to find them.

For most mods, extracting directly into the data folder will work. If you use a good unzipping program like 7-zip or winrar.

If there is a folder in the compressed folder named Meshes, (or anything else) it will automatically be added to the existing meshes folder. The unzip program will create a sub folder inside the meshes folder, and name it using the name of the mod, then place that mods meshes into it keeping any file structure that was set up. There may be a warning about overwriting. However, it does not overwrite anything - it appends the new stuff into the existing folder without changing any of the old stuff. If the meshes folder does not exist, it will be automatically created and will be available for other mods to add to when they are installed.

No, just paste it over the folders ;). You mean that prompt when you put textures/meshes folders in your data folder, while they already existst? Don't worry, they'll merge. Renaming them causes more problems as oblivion is set to look in the Meshes and Textures folder. If you change those names, oblivion can't find them and it will be unable to run your mod correctly. Mods that have additional .esp files could provide optional changes. Not everyone might like/need those, so that could explain any additional ones.

So all i have to do is download, extract, then copy and past it into the oblivion data files? I've been doing that but instead i've been putting all the meshes into a folder that says mesh and when it says it already exists i just rename it (also i rename so I know what files are related to what.) Same for textures. So i've been doing that last part wrong?

files are not rewritten or removed.do not rename any files as you've already been told

Data/meshes/armor or clothing/ mod mesh; do the same for textures,do not remove any files either. the original mesh and texture files only tell you that thats where those items go further files are in each catagory denoting armor, clothing, weapons, characters etc

It's easy dude. Just copy and paste or move the Meshes and Textures folder from the mod into your Oblivion/data folder. When asked to overwrite or merge just choose yes. All it does is merge the new files into the existing folders. It will not overwrite anything unless there is already an exact copy of the file in your data folder. This is when you need to decide what you want to do.
