Befo
Hello all! This is one of my first posts on the Nexus forums, but I have been around the comments pages for a few years. The issue I am having spans across several mods, but for the purpose of this discussion I wanted to focus on the Factions Reloaded- Merge that I released earlier this year. Many users have reported that NPCs are showing up sans clothing across the wastes. Sometimes FR-M touches on aspects of these characters, such as their inventory, their associated lists, or templates, etc, but just as often they do not. However, the problem persists with the mod enabled. We had a similar issue with NVEC testing, and on my tester LO for NVEC I had several naked NPCs to report to Tommy. Eventually, we just figured it was FNVEdit's merged patch causing the issue, but I am unsure if that remains the case. With FR-M, I have exhausted all my ideas about where this bug comes from. I have checked the NPCs themselves, their inventories, their templates where appropriate, their associated leveled lists, and everything looks as it should. Yet, time and time again, users are reporting seeing naked NPCs in their game. The console command resetinventory will fix the issue normally, but that's not really a fix.... Does anyone have any ideas what causes this bug, or how to fix it? Thanks!Befo
jazzisparis
From what I understand, you never encountered this issue yourself, on your end, correct?People who reported this issue - did you catch a glimpse at their load-orders?It may be related to over-modding - i.e. running the game with more than 139 active files, which corrupts the game's memory buffers. This is an inherent bug in the Gamebryo engine most people are either unaware of or disregard.
drithius
If Reloaded used nested leveled lists, make sure one of those isn't empty and/or has the wrong flags set (Use all, etc).
Befo
@JazzI've never encountered it myself with FR-M other than a single NPC who had an incorrect armor item. However, I have encountered this bug previously while testing NVEC with a pretty minimal NVEC testing LO. I'll start asking for users to post LOs and ask what type of merged patch they are running. The sheer number of naked NPC bug reports I am getting is still disturbing. @DrithiusI'll check the lists for that, thanks.
alienzerox
I have the same bug after I merged ADAM into one but so far I only see NCR npcs (mostly rangers) affected ... I suspect that when I made the merge patch some of the item IDs got changed therefore the npc that was equipped with that item lost it. Befo
Found this in FOOK's ReadMe file... "Vanilla Bugs: Some NPCS are naked/have a weird inventory: An engine bug will sometimes not correctly refresh named and unnamed NPCs. Should you encounter this problem, just open the console (http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Gamebryo_console_commands), click on the npc and type "resurrect". The NPC will be correctly refreshed with its new FOOK gear."
Nofsdad
For what it's worth I just had this problem start today after I reactivated Factions Reloaded-Raiders V2. So far it's affected the ranger who brings the radio to you, a group of jaguars and the NCR trooper guarding the bridge in Primm. Two of these are NCR faction and I'm not sure whether the Jaguars are part of your mod or another that adds various types of raiders. The NCR troopers missing armor is from NCR Desert while the ranger's is of course vanilla. Have no idea what the Jaguars were supposed to be wearing but the ones that haven't been nude have worn a mixture of armors from various mods that allow raiders to have vanilla raider armor or wear leather and metal armor plus clothing from Spice of Life and Outfits Recolored. These mods had always played well together in the past and as I indicated above this just started today when I reinstalled FR-R2. Getting ready to start a new game in the morning with this mod deactivated to see if I can get rid of some of the indecent exposure going on. Load order on request but I have less than 50 mods activated. I use merges to keep the LO right around that number but at the moment I'm not running any merged patch. Was hoping to fix this first. Also, the resurrect thing doesn't work, at least not for the trooper on the bridge. He resurrects in his borthday suit too. Edited April 9, 2014 by Nofsdad
Befo
The command might be resetinventory, I just copied that directly out of the FOOK readme.
Deleted4363562User
I've gotten this bug on numerous playthroughs with various mod lists. Right now I have it fairly regularly in my current build which doesn't include Factions Reloaded. The "resurrect" console command fixes the problem manually, but it is quite an annoying bug. Hopefully someone figures it out sooner or later. Maybe it's an gamebryo engine bug?
nivea
Its a either a bug (well known even in vanilla) or a mod issue, this is how I try and figure out which is which: 1. When you use the console command to resurrect, do they spawn with clothing? If so high chance its a game bug. 2. Do they not resurrect with clothing, then its without a doubt a mod bug. The more mods you use that edit the same clothing/armor level lists the more likely the bug will pop up, the more NPC you have spawning the more likely the bug is going to pop up.I know that Diversified Mojave Wasteland is a culprit of this at times (I think it has a bad level list but I do not have the time to look through it all myself.) because people keep posting in my mod thread about missing armor on Legion when my mod does not touch them at all.
