Naked NPC Bug

Its a either a bug (well known even in vanilla) or a mod issue, this is how I try and figure out which is which:

 

1. When you use the console command to resurrect, do they spawn with clothing?

If so high chance its a game bug.

 

2. Do they not resurrect with clothing, then its without a doubt a mod bug.

 

The more mods you use that edit the same clothing/armor level lists the more likely the bug will pop up, the more NPC you have spawning the more likely the bug is going to pop up.

I know that Diversified Mojave Wasteland is a culprit of this at times (I think it has a bad level list but I do not have the time to look through it all myself.) because people keep posting in my mod thread about missing armor on Legion when my mod does not touch them at all.

 

 

In my case, I think it's mostly a game bug. Often using "resurrect" solves the problem. A handful of times I had to type it in twice for the desired effect.

Looking at the list....I guess I have quite a few mods that alter the leveled lists. :laugh:

Dunno if I would put NVR3 after your bashed patch, parts of it should be integrated into the patch (Races, NPC Faces, NPC inventory, Any Level list edits, ect) that might help with some of your issues.

I actually had it in my bashed patch beforehand. I only recently changed it. Doesn't seem to make any difference. But I think I'll put it back and try to see if the problem occurs any less frequently. Thanks.

First time this bug happened to me was on my first vanilla play through, rofl first time I saw a legion outside Nipton he was all naked... Very good first impressions, naked men I thought about joining. :P

That makes the whole Nipton scene all the more disturbing...

I just thought I'd jump into this older thread because I'm experiencing a similar issue, so I Googled it. I had the same issue in Skyrim. ResetInventory seemed to fix it for me.

 

I'm now having the same issue in New Vegas. It's happening to one of the raiders in TTW. It's the raider encounter in front of the Super Duper Mart. So, this one raider keeps re-spawning in his skivies. I looked up his ID in FNVEdit. No conflicts with any records. I have an up-to-date as of the last mod I added, Bashed Patch.

 

It could very well be an issue with leveled lists, but my understanding is, that's what the Bashed Patch is for.

 

I'm mostly adding my 2 cents in because someone else will likely be experiencing this same issue and stumble upon this thread in Google, just as I had.

 

Console commands might be a solution, but it's still immersion breaking to see an NPC in their underwear (or birthday suit), and have to stop and click on them. Particularly immersion breaking if the NPC is hostile and your character is in combat.

 

I would love to know what preventative fix there is if any. Perhaps someone will see this thread down the road and add to it.

I have the same bug. Best I can tell, it's based on Leather Armor somehow, since all the NPCs affected should have some variant of it normally.

Otherwise, rather than necro an old thread just to say "same here" (which is against the "Terms of Service") please start your own and provide ALL the information requested in the wiki "How to ask for help" article. Don't forget to identify things that do not appear in the "load order", such as NVSE and it's related plugins, texture replacements (specifically their larger image sizes: 1024x1024, etc.), and "post-processors" like ENB or SweetFX.
