OBSE wont launch

Okay, I installed Oblivion on my computer (Which had it a while back, about 5 OS reinstallations ago), and I installed SI, tried to launch OBSE. "Unrecognized version, blah blah blah". I tried to run the 1.2.416 US Shivering Isles patch, "Old file not found, however, a file of the same name was found. No update done since content files do not match." I have NO idea how to fix this, all I've thought of so far was getting an OBSEv17 compatible no-cd, which would end up with the launcher not recognizing the .exe, and no Data Files being loaded excluding Oblivion.esm, thereby removing the point of a working OBSE. Any ideas?

Owk.. that sounds like a few different problems

You said you can't update SI: Do you have the GOTY edition? As that one is pre-patched and patching would be unnecessary.

Or you might have used the OB patch. while you have SI.

To check your version, go to the readme. Start up the normal launcher and press Technical support.

OBSE does not work with:

Oblivion 1.2.0.214 This was the official downloadable 1.2 patch. (as of v0017)

Oblivion 1.2.0.410: the Shivering Isles beta patch.

Oblivion 1.2.0.201: the Shivering Isles DVD build.

Oblivion 1.1.0.511 This was the original Oblivion that OBSE supported. (as of v0017)

Oblivion 1.0: the original DVD build of Oblivion.

if you have a legal copy, why do you need a no CD patch, that doesn't make sense.

Because OBSE won't launch with my legal v1.2.416 exe file. If I got a no-cd crack that was compatible with OBSE I WOULD be able to use it. I don't need a no-cd crack because I cant start the game, I need it so I can use OBSE, since my legal copy doesn't work.

Something else that would be helpful is maybe a link to an OBSE compatible no-cd patch, I DO have a legal copy, but obse must not think so. :(

It actually makes plenty of sense if your disc drive doesn't work right, like mine, and you're too poor to fix it.
