CS Keeps Crashing

Are you using Vista? Have you every successfully saved a mod you were working on? If you do have Vista, you will have to use one of the approaches to get out around it before you can mod.

Is this an isolated incident? Has it only crashed once? Or have you tried three times and crashed three times? The CS is very unstable and crashes on everybody. We just need to determine if your crashing is abnormal and worse than average.

Try this: Put something in your Microphone-input. If you don't have a microphone, just use some headphones.

If you're lucky..that's it.. A lot of people had their problem solved with this...not everyone, but..still most of them.

If it is this, it might have something to do with vista, recording dialogue and the dialogue-bug in CS.

-lol, both at the same time.

I am using Vista and yes, I have successfully been able to save a mod I was working on. Like I said, It's only when I try making a new quest topic does it crash on me. I have tried several times and each time, it does it. It, however, does not crash when I try anything else (e.g, Making a new cell, Linking doors, etc.).

Which method of getting out around Vista's security system are you using? Vista + CS = Crash. If your method is not completely effective, perhaps that could cause crashes during some operations. The method I use with Vista is putting Oblivion into C: Games\Oblivion and out of Program Files where the Vista Gestapo hangs out. I have heard that old versions of the CS, or weak computers can cause CS crashes, but I don't think that would be your problem.

Does it crash 100% of the time when you make new Quest topics? If you could get it to work 25% of the time, you would still be able to create mods. You could just always save right before the crash point. Can you edit quest topics? One approach might be to take an existing quest or mod, and absolutely and totally change it into something else. you would change all the words, but not actually create new quest topics.

To get around Vista security, I did exactly what you said, I did it awhile ago tbh. Yes, it does crash 100% of the time when making new quest topics, and, it does, in fact, crash when I attempt to even edit an existing quest.
